Description Reboot Idea #27

"The Power of SHAZAM"

Years ago, a young boy's world was changed forever when a wizard give him the power to become a powerful superhero. This young boy shared his gifts with his closest friends, and soon, the Power of SHAZAM stood as Fawcett City's most powerful force.

However, when the Crisis arrived, the powerful spirit of vengence known as The Spectre was unleashed, attacking all beings with magical power. The wizard was struck down, and in turn, his magic was seemingly lost.

Billy Batson and Freddie Freeman were the only two individuals left who were capable of taking the wizard's place, but there was a catch: since the wizard's magic was a direct ying-yang of good and evil, one of the two would be forced to take upon the wizard's good magic, and the other would be given magic of pure darkness.

The magic chose it's hosts, and soon, it would be Billy who was blessed with the light magic, and Freddie would be blessed with dark magic.

Now, the two fight side by side, trying to keep the world safe, taking on the roles of The Captain and Black Adam, the last two forces of The Power of SHAZAM.

I really like this concept, though I would have preferred to see Mary being given Black Adam's powers (like in the comics; I really loved the saga of "Black Mary" ). Does the "magic of pure darkness" have a corrupting influence on Freddie in your reboot?

Ohhhhh evil Black Mary was terrible, IMO. One of the worst translations of hero to villain I have ever seen.

Seriously!?

Guess that's really a matter of taste...

I love how you've gone and incorporated the whole concept of Yin and yang within their costumes. Really adds to the power of symbolism for the angle you're trying to throw with this particular set.

They both look so heroic standing here!

Somehow with Freddie with the dark magic seems to... just... yeah. That just works hands down.

Aweesomeonly done!

Black Adam was always a cool villain, but it bothered me how he never had a direct connection to Billy. Making Black Adam Billy's best friend, however?

Now THAT's what Im talking about.

As for the ying-yang, I've always been drawn to the idea, and the symbol. THe design was totally intentional with the symbol.

Yeah... this is quite true. Black Adam was an awesome villain. He had that super menacing thing about him that really made him stand out.

OOOh okay..

That's really neat though! You incorporated it in so well with this one!
