When ever I see art of Russia like this all I can think is that Russia always looks in need of a hug.
I think the way Russia acts is due to his isolation as a child, being the tatar yoke {golden horde..whatever} was in control for such a long time...and he's scared of being alone again.

Poor Ivan. I think one reason he acts like he does is because he's scared of being alone--although, I think some of his actions don't help me with keeping people around at all. But yeah, lovely, albeit sad, picture. I love the sketchiness and the fact that we can't see Russia's face. Great job!
