The only flaw her face. Too flat and wide. The rest is stunning art.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

IamUman In reply to xhagast [2013-02-03 17:37:39 +0000 UTC]

Yes you're right. I used a very wide angle 3D camera and everything on the far left and right of the scene was distorted as a result. I already compensated the distortion in postwork in Photoshop, but it's still noticable in her face. I'm glad you like the rest of the scene.

Hi,

Just thought about how this picture could be seen in the viewpoint of a recon-bot. Fish-eye lens kinda look would be cool with a blue hue on her and she could either look worried to be discovered or about to shoot it with a handgun!

Sorry justa thought!

Thought I saw somekinda wide angled shot here. Nice one. Ever thought of trying out Aftereffect for the postwork? Well if you do let me know the outcome coz I have yet to try too

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

IamUman In reply to AOGRAI [2012-07-09 07:31:29 +0000 UTC]

Yes, I did use a wide angled camera.
After Effects is more for animation, not for stills like this one.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

AOGRAI In reply to IamUman [2012-07-09 08:58:38 +0000 UTC]

I know that is what I thought, but hey, you can apparently get interesting effects even for stills. I don't know, guess I will have to figure that one... although I wonder if the effects are the same between photoshop and aftereffects. Anyway, I thank you for your tutorials.

IamUman In reply to jerboa83 [2012-01-24 17:24:15 +0000 UTC]

I used a camera with a very wide angle, so it looks a bit distorted at the edges.

Very apocalyptic. Love the "in your face" lights with those big things in the background. Your flames are looking a little bit 2D there, kind of like sprites on 2d planes. Think it's something to do with the straight lines they're on. Best thing with the lights, not overdoing the halos, I keep thinking there could be one of those corona things more in the foreground but that could be because I've see a few of them lately, but looks great without Also, reflection map in the glass! Nice detail, I would forget

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

IamUman In reply to Ryivhnn [2011-07-24 13:45:16 +0000 UTC]

I don't see it myself but the flames are in fact 2D and the're in a line so you're probably right.
I didn't want to overdo the lens flare effects since they are considered 'bad practice' by pro's.
The reflection map in the glass is a unintentional and a coΓ―ncidence. If you're talking about the flames: they're supposed to be behind the glass...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Ryivhnn In reply to IamUman [2011-07-25 03:08:53 +0000 UTC]

It's only "overdoing" if the light on that angle through that camera lens wouldn't actually produce that lens flare effect and you slapped it in because it's a lens flare and therefore "cool"

Could be flames behind the glass; when I was looking at it, it looked like it was reflecting the sky and possibly some neighbouring buildings. Could have misinterpreted.

i love the atmosphere and the designs, one thing strikes me as odd tho... everything seems like its slightly stretched horizontally.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

IamUman In reply to archkyle [2011-07-20 07:04:44 +0000 UTC]

The picture is not really stretched, but the camera has a pretty extreme focal length wich result in some warp effect at the sides.
Maybe I should have tried to correct it in postwork...
thanks for the comment!

IamUman In reply to IamUman [2011-07-20 07:23:38 +0000 UTC]

I straightened out the warp effect and re-upped the pic. It looks much better now.
Thanks for helping me to see it and fix it!
