The only flaw her face. Too flat and wide. The rest is stunning art.

Yes you're right. I used a very wide angle 3D camera and everything on the far left and right of the scene was distorted as a result. I already compensated the distortion in postwork in Photoshop, but it's still noticable in her face. I'm glad you like the rest of the scene.

Hi,
Just thought about how this picture could be seen in the viewpoint of a recon-bot. Fish-eye lens kinda look would be cool with a blue hue on her and she could either look worried to be discovered or about to shoot it with a handgun!
Sorry justa thought!

So maybe you might render one? I wanted to see it how you will do it. Hope you will so I can enjoy the piece.

Yes, I did use a wide angled camera.
After Effects is more for animation, not for stills like this one.

I know that is what I thought, but hey, you can apparently get interesting effects even for stills. I don't know, guess I will have to figure that one... although I wonder if the effects are the same between photoshop and aftereffects. Anyway, I thank you for your tutorials.

I used a camera with a very wide angle, so it looks a bit distorted at the edges.

I don't see it myself but the flames are in fact 2D and the're in a line so you're probably right.
I didn't want to overdo the lens flare effects since they are considered 'bad practice' by pro's.
The reflection map in the glass is a unintentional and a coΓ―ncidence. If you're talking about the flames: they're supposed to be behind the glass...

i love the atmosphere and the designs, one thing strikes me as odd tho... everything seems like its slightly stretched horizontally.
π: 0 β©: 1
IamUman In reply to archkyle [2011-07-20 07:04:44 +0000 UTC]
The picture is not really stretched, but the camera has a pretty extreme focal length wich result in some warp effect at the sides.
Maybe I should have tried to correct it in postwork...
thanks for the comment!

I straightened out the warp effect and re-upped the pic. It looks much better now.
Thanks for helping me to see it and fix it!
