A first work over two months... so, please not too hard on critic...

For my lovely sister *l6visyda , who is also a model on this work.

We have almost like tradition here that for every birthday my sisters have, I make manip with them. But as Liisa's birthday was in the middle of busy time for me and exams.. so this is the first change to make something for her. For long I have two other ideas but somehow when I sat behind photoshop, I remembered none of them... and by random creating the background (not for this purpose at all)... and then understanding that nothing fits there and then just leaving it and then, in totally random moment I walked into living room and my other sister was watching "Stargate SG-1" and I sat with her.. And the episode had the same title as this piece.. and on that night.. I got what this piece is about. And I learned that it is almost impossible for me to create a piece where I do not know the story - it feels just so awkward and somehow wrong. There is not that passion inside me what I need to create anything worth watching..

But as I was laying on my bed, I just got the story. I had thought that this is maybe (as I first had only background and it is so grey) world after the end. I thought about evacuation - some zeppelins leaving. So, I had the idea that this grey is not sunset with mist but rather the destroyed world. And then came the idea that all humans are died off, planet is unlivable but there is one left - Jolindar. And she is a robot.

So - what is Jolindar's memory? How she ended up being last one on that planet what is now turned into wasted ashland? She was advantage robot in civilization what was never ready for the technology they were given by others who arrived in big shining spaceship. But they did not saw it - they took the gifts open armed, took huge step in their evolution and turned their world into something it was never meant to be. And it did not took long, when different parts of that planet started to think that with that technology they not can only make their life better, they can take over the whole planet and be the only ruler. Technology given as a gift was turned into lethal weapon and soon wild scale war started. The prize they paid for it was huge - many died and not only robots like Jolindar, who was sent to the battlefield. Pure humans did and soon there was very little of them left and there was no need to fight anymore as survival became more important. The planet had took heavy damage but it was livable. Then, just like a bad faith or a punishment for their childish behavior with technology, a big volcano erupted. The sky turned into grey and ash covered the whole planet. There was nothing those few who have survived the horrible war could do. They were perished, their strength gone and brilliant minds lost. And soon they were gone too. All living things what needed air, water and food were wept on the planet. And those few robots, who were still in service of humans before the eruption - they just watched their masters fading and knowing - there is nothing they can do now. They were made to serve and they were meant to be look after and maintained by humans. Now they are gone - and it is only matter of time when their energy sources run low and their signals fade and they will close their eyes like those who they served.

And so she is, sitting at the place where once used to be create architecture wonder. Were once used to be children laughter and busy people rushing by. Now only cruel wind blows, ash tears into delicate parts of her machinery and she has nothing to do. She has lost all her meaning of existence but ironically, she is still here. She is the last testimony of greatness once was there. She has all the memories of past - hundred of years, generations of humans. She has been the passive observer, only taking orders, never doubting. Never even programmed to think herself. Could she have saved herself if she have had the will to preserve herself? Would she have done anything to help the humans? Noone knows and she... she is just sitting, going over and over again those bites of memories inside her machine brain. And maybe she is even dreaming - thinking and hoping to regain those past days and have back those who gave meaning to her life.

Lost, alone, abandoned - fated to fade... Jolindar...

Oh, this was killer work.. Honestly.. as told before - first the feeling that I do not have the passion or will to make manip. Like I have stopped too long to work again. And maybe I have lost some of that skill as first it was hard to hold digital pencil on my hand but it passed.. To get the idea - again very hard.. but when I had it, it was a lot of fun. Also was fun the photoshot with Liisa. I had the idea of soldier robot and that helped me with the costume choosing but the hair.. I just came to crazy idea - to do something different with her hair.. And then she did that.. it was wow.. but she really started to like it and promised to go to graduation with hairs like that.

Most fun of the making of this piece was the difference of this work of my usual. It is my first sci-fi work.. I know, it was almost a year ago when *FrozenStarRo talked me that she likes to make sci-fi girls manips.. and told me I should try that too. I can tell now - I tried.. How it worked out, that is your's to decide. And I think her works, maybe, are the inspiration for this work too.

All those wires and those light impulses and those panels and symbols and the whole futuristic look. It was so refreshing for me and I could not ask for anything more - it was the best day after my exams when working on it.

On statistic, I would say - over 200 layers. Almost two days - one for background, one for everything else... But when I am usually so tired after work like that then at the moment I am not - I am so eager.. And I like it.. the work.. usually I hate my pieces when I have finished them.. or have some little negative tone and after some time start to like them...

And Liisa.. I hope she likes it.. and you like it.. and to the end - when I told Liisa that I am turning her robot- she was shocked.. but when she saw after I have worked on her little - she started to love it and demanded more wires.. more weird things.

Beautiful. I love the adornments all around her head, and around her legs. The colouring is so dim, but everything looks powerful and alive anyhow, especially the background! Wonderful!
