Description Old stuff again? Well, yes

Whenever i browsed through my gallery i always thought the original version was one of the weakest pics that hadn't made it to my scraps yet. I really like the scene but i was never too satisfied with the rendering, so i thought i might give it a try and see what i can improve four years later.
It pretty much looks like intended now and rendered 25 percent faster (on the same computer)

1.6 Mio Polys (compared to 3.6 on the original version, no render instances and lack of optimisation back then)

I like your artwork very much. Wonderful lights and dust. Whow - creepy rendertime... Yes, this picture reminds me of the big Uru shaft down to D'ni... I'm not sure I like the Uru game or not - the idea is great (to see the old D'ni) but the realization and the quest are.... ugly and a little bit nonsense... The Myst books are great, I've read them in German. I think, they made the real story in the end.

Ah i think the render time is ok, on a fast computer this would be like 4-5 hours maybe, thats ok for 4k resolution i think.

I havent played Uru although many asked me to try it, but somehow nothing of what i read or saw about it looked anything close to the old games. I didnt like V either. Guess the good adventure game days are kinda over



Nebenbei, du hattest ein Bild für die Gruppe die ich da gegründet hatte angemeldet oder? Hat nichts mit dem Bild zu tun, aber ich hab einfach keine Zeit/keinen Nerv für eine Gruppe, wollte die eigentlich schon seit einer Weile löschen, sorry.

Ah.  Was just wondering since some of your work reminds me of theirs... they're a fan community based around the Cyan games  (Myst, Riven, Uru, etc.) and they render their own worlds in Blender for players to explore.  Anyway, was wondering since this reminds me of Myst, as does your Bathysphere picture.

Yes, i looked it up There are some Myst inspired pics in my gallery, but more related to the older games and the books. I kinda stopped being interested in the games after the fourth (which was great), never liked the changes in V and Uru...

Haven't played V, though I have heard many bad things.  Not the fourth either, it's hard to get a hold of.  I enjoy Uru, though I agree it could have been much better, and in its current state it leaves much to be desired.  I do think if we could get a stable means of adding fan-made material to the Uru community, it would become a much more vibrant group.

I thought V was atrocious, i spend 5 bucks and still regret it  IV is my favourite Myst game, after Riven i think. Very nicely designed worlds and the story went back to the first part a bit, i enjoyed it alot. Strange that it isnt on Gog yet.

It might be on GOG, it just wasn't in the pack I bought.  And Exile wasn't in it either, so it might have simply been a Cyan pack, which would explain why IV wasn't part of it.  I'll have to get it sometime, it's fairly cheap used on Amazon.

Großartige Szene, das nenne ich ganz ganz großes Kino! Der Dunst gibt Deinem Werk definitiv ganz viel Tiefe und einen gewissen mystischen Touch. Und obwohl mir das gelb-orange Farbschema der Lampen in der ersten Version sehr gut gefällt, ist das Licht hier deutlich subtiler und sehr fein aufeinander abgestimmt, so dass die Unterschiede zwischen den Licht- und Schatteninseln nicht so stark erscheinen. Eine wirklich wunderschöne Szene!

Ja die Lampen in Version 1 wirkten irgendwie immer als würden sie nicht richtig dazugehören, das hat mich schon am Vorschaubild gestört
