Heh. Yes, Fluttershy would be the best Terra. I can just hear Terra speaking with her voice.
"Be your last hope? Um, well... Yes! Um, that is, if you really want me to be it..."

"I wouldn't want to presume. You all seem like such nice people. I'm sure you would make wonderful last hopes! If one of you wants to be it, please don't let me stop you. I'm sorry! I don't mean to be indecisive! I WILL do it! Yes! Absolutely! It's Fluttershy to the rescue...
...that is...if you think it's a good idea..."

I like the result of the path tool. Using thicker lines might help with the "artificial" look. The pony drawings that look like screen caps are most likely vector drawings (at least most of the ones I've seen like that are vector drawings) which use path tools. Free-handing can give more exact control over your lines, however (and zooming in does help just like JeemBare suggested). You can certainly combine the two methods if that suits your fancy. All-in-all though, you'll get better at either or both through practice. And that aside.... I LOVE Fluttershy as Terra! So adorable!!! *squee* I can't wait to see what you do with Pinkie Pie!! *more squee*

I think it looks pretty good either freehand or path tool.
I had the same probably drawing clean lines with my tablet but I think practice has helped.
I also find that zooming in helps with making smooth lines and then I can always clean them up later when I color it in.
A combination of freehand and path tool might also be a good choice if you find certain situations where one works better than the other.

Thanks! That's the method I've been doing so far. Will probably stick to it!
