Nice claws, but isn't going barefoot a bad idea for a soldier?

Love it, even though the background was a pain for you it is still an awesome work.Β Its outstanding how you put this piece together.Β Nice work with every thing in the foreground pose, revolver, beer and box.Β That look on his face really does show the direction you went with this.Β Β He really does love his guns, got to love that revolver as well.Β Β
The background itself is pretty solid, regardless of your need of burn heal each time you work on that.Β You did a great job with the running river and shrubs nearby, nice mixture of the colors being used and details as well.Β Β Β
Overall pawsome work, keep up it.
I freakin' love this viking wolf!!!

Cheers! Yeah, that background really wrecked me. Still, I have some ideas on how to get a bit better at this sort of thing. I know what my problem is with these backgrounds, so perhaps there is a way forward to solving it.
I must admit, I was rather proud of how that bottle turned out haha
Thanks again!

Always a nice feeling when someone recognises a gun I've drawn. xD

He's as attached to his guns as Thor is to his hammer. Might be some warrior belief mindset thing.

Heh, yeah. Fighting is a viking's way to paradise and weapons are how you fight best, so there's a spiritual appreciation there.

Lots of people make custom brushes for things like that on Photoshop. I found some free foliage brushes that create the right kinda outline shapes very quickly. From there you can use either the same brushes or just rough shaped ones to add the shading. I'm still not entirely happy with the result, but it works pretty well.

"insistence"... pff, I politely asked you to develop that sketch into a picture and it turned out great!
I imideately fell in love with the pose when you posted the sketch, the way he holds the revolver, and especially how curiously he tilts his head looking at it haha!
The background turned out nicely aswell. Since I saw this picutre's development process I can't see any major mistakes anymore. Thats good... right? x)
The only thing I could start nitpick about would maybe be how "perfectly flat" the dirt below him is. Little things like rocks, sticks or rubbish laying around would add to the depth, aswell as little details like small dirtpiles next to the box/bottle/his feet/the sandbag to indicate pushed around dirt.
Anyways, nice work with the picture. AND THE WHISKERS! Β

Politely threatened physical violence!
Ok, it was an internet threat BUT STILL! #PTSD
Haha thanks, I did like the sketch as well and I've been kinda putting off doing digital work in favour of just piling up sketches for some reason. It's nice to get one done for once. Thanks for the help and feedback throughout this, I think it improved considerably thanks to input from you and the others. Pretty much the best outcome from spamming all the WIP's.
Hmm, yeah, I do agree. I need to figure out a longterm solution for this, since a lot of the time, my ground looks like the ground on a PS1 game- texture but no real depth haha
Thanks again! I'll remember the whiskers more going forward! xD
