Description
Jormungandr walhallaensis is a species of early Campanian mosasaur recovered from North Dakota. It seems to represent an intermediary between basal mosasaurines like Clidastes and more derived genera like Xenodens or Globidens and giants like Mosasaurus. With its skull measuring 72 centimetres (2.36 ft) long in total, J. walhallaensis is may have reached 6-7 meters long if proportioned like Cladastes, although to reflect its intermediary status I decided to go for a more compact, efficient, and derived build that was just over 5 meters. I wouldn't be surprised if they end up with a longer leaner body, but since very little postrania were preserved, I decided to reflect the author's proposition of it being more derived. With basal teeth, they were likely generalist predators hunting whatever they could swallow, unlike Xenodens or Globidens which had much more specialized dentition.
