Description Something new I tried with a photogram. Splatter painted it with developer and then ran it through the rest of the chemistry. I like the effect. The white part on the left is my hair, the rest were semi-translucent rocks.

How did you paint it with the developer??? I've only just started doing these things and I don't know how the chemicals work and stuff. :c This is so beautiful, though! You've inspired me to try this out. c:

Thank you

After I exposed the paper, I put it in a tray then dipped a paper towel in the developer and just kinda 'painted' the paper with it and let it sit the usual developing time before putting it through the stop bath and fixer. I was surprised it actually worked because I wasn't agitating a constant flow of developer over the paper but it did!

Your welcome. How did you make this?

Basically spread some rocks out on a piece of Ilford Multigrade RC paper, flipped my head over and spread my hair on the other side, and exposed the paper. Then instead of running it through the chemicals normally, I kind of 'splatter painted' it with a paper towel dipped in the developer.

Oh cool! I thought you mightve drawn some of it and did the rest on the computer.

Haha nice . Do you usually do abstract art?

No, I actually prefer portraiture and still life, but photograms are all somewhat abstract because of the direct contact-print way they are made. I've always had more trouble with the abstract assignments than anything else! This was really a happy accident, and then I used this photogram to make a color reversal for my color class (which I really need to upload cause I love it even more than the b/w version)

Oh that's pretty awesome. I'm more of an abstract art person because of the random designs and how it looks really nice and well put together. but I can't actually create my own kind of abstract art

I love this one. It has a random texture that allows you to read all kinds of things into it. My eyes are drawn to one area that almost looks like a laughing skull, and it has graffiti shapes in places. I love the hard edges of those dots against the soft curving of your hair.
