The table top is a full 2 inches thick. I simply carve away from the top and bottom to give the illusion of it being thin.

Do you carve it by hand then?Β How long does something like that take you? It looks amazing!!Β

Thank you. Yes it is all hand carved. The general shaping is done with a mini chain saw and then the detailing of the gentle waves is done with a die grinder. That took around 100 hours for this piece. But that still leaves a very rough surface which required about another 100 hours of sanding to refine it to a perfectly smooth surface.
