Description
The lu'an society exists mainly in two forms: the Courts and the Clans. The Courts are as they sounds, hierarchical, steeped in tradition, rank, duty, and honor. They are based in particular locations, with a local high Court and supported by the unranked common lu'an people who live under the Court's protection and laws.

The Clans are nomadic, gypsylike and mysterious. Their organization, rites, rules and migration patterns are carefully guarded secrets even from most of their Court cousins.

This is a young halfblood woman of the Clans. I don't know her name, but I have a sense of who she is. She has only ever known the Clan's way of life, and though resigned to it, wordlessly wishes for more, for something else. Being halfblood, she is of low standing and little influence among her people, but quiet, yearning ambition and a long life ahead of her make me think this will not always be so.
