Made with various ME screenshots. Only qualifies to be in my gallery, not my scraps, due to the amount of time it took to put this together. And the fact that I'm rather proud of the end product.Note, I do not expect Shepard and Liara will be on the cover of ME3, I'm guessing Shep with two new squaddies right now.

perfect, and i'm agreeing with your guess, but i hope we're both wrong, anyone who has played both games already, knows that ash is a total bitch, so a cover with the crowd pleaser would be awsome

You yourself said that Tali is unlikely to be at the cover for ME3 for some logic reasons. For one she could have died and on the other hand her character development. Okay, I got another personal opinion and say that she still "can(/will)" be a Squadmate in III. Nothing more.^^

Future Movie-poster anyone? Also good thinking about Tali up there. A well, only Bioware has all the answers, don't know what they can pull of after such an outgoing MEII but since they said that they will pull all the lines together at the end it better be damn good!^^

I wouldn't mind seeing the ME3 logo in green, red is such an overused color in action gaming these days. Good creative decision on your behalf.
And yes, Liara HAD BETTER be in the crew the next time around. I was kinda getting tired of being continually shut down in conversation when the topic turned to a possible re-joining of the crew.
And yes, I might want to see a possible Tali appearance on the cover. Because...well...she's Tali. No further questions!

Just a couple.
The first and most telling would have to be the fact that she can die in Mass Effect 2. That all but garantees that she will be absent on the ME3 cover. Maybe even relegated to a cameo appearance. Logic would dictate this.
The second is a personal opinion. You see, the previous two covers have featured squad mates. And I don't think Tali is going to be a squadmate. One of the reasons being the aforementioned killability in ME2. The other being, I think Tali has pretty much had her hour, and before you hit me, let me explain.
Tali's character did grow and develop from Mass Effect 1 to 2. But to me, the developments in 2 seemed to have an air of finality about it one way or another, like her character had run its course as a squadmate. And anything more would be stretching out a wonderfully-written character too far. Which, as someone who likes Tali a lot himself, I would hate to see.
Now, I'm open to other possibilities, but right now, while I can see Tali having a role in ME3, I don't see her as being a squadmate or on the cover.

Agreed on the ME3 cover part, but all ME2 squaddies are going to return as squaddies in ME3 if they survived. The only exception is perhaps Samara.
Look at the very end of ME2, all your squadmates laboring, fixing gear and nodding in determination to you as if preparing for the next mission. A strong case can be made for each character that they simply have nowhere else to go, and Bioware would rather write for pre-existing squaddies rather than design completely new ones and hire new VA.
If they die in ME2, you get nobody but Ashley/Kaiden and Liara.
That's speculation, of course, I'll wait for the actual word, but I'm getting more and more optimistic that saving your ME2 squaddies will bear a larger reward than a crappy cameo.

Well the cover will only have marketing in mind. Garrus + Ashley for ME1, Miranda + Thane for ME2, and a cover similar to Ascension for ME3

That looks awesome! Maybe they will have a picture of a squadmate from ME 1 and a squadmate from ME 2 standing next to Shepard, or even Garrus and Tali, to show that they are the only two from ME 1 who stuck with Shepard in ME 2
