oh thank you! <3 oh gosh, I adore that popeye look too! XD they animators just borrowed the right traits from the original manga to update it and make it fresh again, but give that cartoon feel, so awesome and that's what I strive for in my fanart <3

I think that's one other thing I like about the 2001 Jet is that he incorporates that pseudo-Disney style softness 
And you're right about about how the animation stays true to the manga (I've always wondered why Jet has very round hips in the anime); and I like how Ishinomori used that Tezuka-style type inking for when he first made his series.
Btw that's something I've noticed a lot in your fanart, is that you use nice, soft contour lines and pastel coloring

You really have a gift for drawing inanimate object. The character are great, but what really makes the picture and completes it is the amazingly well drawn bench there. Your shading makes it and that trash bin pop, and makes this a very believable scene. Really truly great job! ^^
