'When kings clash, the whole land trembles.'A slightly older piece that I am reworking. into something grander and more elaborate. Just wanted to post this as a kind of first draft.

Love the contrast of the Early Middle-Age/Crusader period look of the Northmen, contrasted with the High/Late Middle Age look of the Lannister men-at-arms. And I imagine that the Dornishmen look alot like Spanish Moors and the Ironborn more akin to Scandinavian Vikings.

Seriously though: bloody cool stuff! Loving the contrast between the two forces, with the mounted Saxon Huscarl-styled Northerners against the much more advanced Lannisters. Good visual shorthand for showing the wildly different cultures.

I'm glad to see that we seem to share notions concerning the aesthetic of the Seven Kingdoms, Master Finn! (particularly the retention to some degree of a silhouette straight from the Dark Ages in the North - a look that would have been familiar to Anglo-Saxon Huscarls and Norman Milites both - which I see as very appropriate to the Last Kingdom of the First Men, with their strong Pagan Celtic-Teuton feel).
If I might be so bold as to ask, do you have any particularly strong historical kingdoms and periods of history in mind as a model when drawing up designs for each of the Seven Kingdoms? (and if so, might I please ask what they are?); I admit that this query is born out of a particular fascination with how the design choices and internal logic an artist follows in the course of creating an image can shape a world!

Thanks, I'm glad you like it. I like what you've got going with your own Stark helm. Is the snout a visor? It reminds me a bit of the Hound's helmet from the show, which is beautifully molded to the shape of the wolf's (or in their case dog's) face. I guess my own personal interpretation is a bit more utilitarian - so the form looks less like the animal itself, but would probably be a bit simpler for an armorer to actually make.

Great job. I like how the northmen's armor is very reminiscent of Viking and Russian armor, whereas the Lannister armor is more of the traditional northern European variety.

This is really cool, even at this stage. The complexity of the overall piece, as well as all the cool armor which is very well done!
Did you use any reference photos for this? If you didn't, I would be even MORE impressed!!
Also, did you design the wolf-helm?
I do think maybe the dire-wolf's head could be changed in some way, to make him look more aggressive?
Anyway, really like it! Good job!
