this is some concept art for some alternate history lore I'm currently working on, the project is called MAD! as in mutually assured destruction and the whole series is set in a post apocalyptic world created by the atomic war of 1983. with this project I'm letting my mind run totally wild with the prospect of survivors gathering scraps from the mid 20th century world. Specifically I have set it in Britain, and am currently working on new fractions rising 38 years after the nuclear war. here I have constructed an average post apocalyptic warrior, he uses a Hodge podge of different pre war British army equipment such as the MK 5 helmet, and iconic British DPM camouflage which was all used by the UK armed forces during the cold war. in addition to his pre war salvage he also wears armour constructed post war such as padded armour made out of thick pieces of fabric strewn together, he also carries a Mace, as in the post apocalyptic world, modern ammunition runs low so close quarters medieval style combat is very popular. He wears red as it is his feudal colours, post apocalyptic Britain is a world of feudal warlords fighting eachother for the domination of the land and every warrior owes an alegence to his lord. I have took alot of inspiration from old trench raider armour from the great war, for such peices were quite easy to make and were crudely put together for the most part making them perfect for post apocalyptic armour, as they are practical yet look unique on soldiers wearing camo and carrying cold war equipment. the root of my ideas for mad is is that of trench warfare as in the series many of these feudal lords have constructed near subterranean settlements with networks of trenches, as they were the perfect shelters from the nuclear summer of which they could hide from the sun's burning rays due to Ozone depletion from the nuclear bombs. all in all I feel I'm doing some fantastic world building right now, working 80s British culture into a post apocalyptic setting.
