Description I've done a picture for this day for as long as I can remember. It's just a reflex now. They say you will never forget where you were when those planes hit the Twin Towers and I never will. I was sitting in art class when we heard about it and the whole room went quiet.

Now, since I can't draw buildings very well, I went with what I'm good at and that is a patriotic gryphon. I particularly like the little blue star on its head, not sure why. Don't really like how the far wing turned out...

Anyway, I doubt anyone can forget 9/11 and this is just my piece to show that I support our country and our troops.

~~~
American girls and American guys, will always stand up and salute.
We'll always recognize, when we see ol' glory flying,
There's a lot of men dead,
So we can sleep in peace at night when we lay down our heads.
My daddy served in the army where he lost his right eye,
But he flew a flag out in our yard 'til the day that he died.
He wanted my mother, my brother, my sister and me.
To grow up and live happy in the land of the free.
Now this nation that I love is fallin' under attack.
A mighty sucker-punch came flying in from somewhere in the back.
Soon as we could see clearly through our big black eye,
Man, we lit up your world like the fourth of July.
Hey, Uncle Sam put your name at the top of his list,
And the Statue of Liberty started shaking her fist.
And the eagle will fly and it's gonna be hell,
When you hear Mother Freedom start ringing her bell.
And it'll feel like the whole wide world is raining down on you.
Ah, brought to you, courtesy of the red, white and blue.
Oh, justice will be served and the battle will rage:
This big dog will fight when you rattle his cage.
An' you'll be sorry that you messed with the U.S. of A.
'Cos we'll put a boot in your ass, it's the American way.
Hey, Uncle Sam put your name at the top of his list,
And the Statue of Liberty started shaking her fist.
And the eagle will fly and it's gonna be hell,
When you hear Mother Freedom start ringing her bell.
And it'll feel like the whole wide world is raining down on you.
Ah, brought to you, courtesy of the red, white and blue.
Oh, oh.
Of the red, white and blue.
Oh, hey, oh.
Of my Red, White and Blue.
Amazing. Beautiful. The song is a wonderful choice, I would gave either gone with this song, Where Were You (When The World Stopped Turning) by Alan Jackson, or Have You Forgotten by Darryl Worley. Anyway, beautiful picture.
Thanks! Yeah, it made sense that the feathers might be like that...since there wouldn't really be any other way.
I remember when 9/11 happened...I was in the 9th grade...and to be honest...I had NO IDEA what was going on.
All I saw were teachers whispering about, turning on TV's to watch some buildings collapse.
I honestly thought we were watching some demolition or something, because no one would tell us what the hell was going on.
It wasn't until AFTER school I finally found out what happened.
Anyways...that was a long time ago...
...and you did an amazing piece to the remembrance of that day.
It's really beautiful, hun.
They wouldn't tell you what was going on? Were they afraid it'd freak the kids out or something?
Thanks very much. I wanted to do an eagle...but it evolved into a gryphon.
Thanks! Seems most people don't even notice the star unless I say about it.
Thanks very much!
I remember our teachers going into a somewhat silent shock and everyone burst into talk about it after we found out. I think I was in the 6th grade too at the time.
Thanks again.
