Description The cover to the long-awaited Alloy of Law update for The Mistborn Adventure Game, free of it's title elements. The book is available now from Crafty Games.

Man, this whole illustration was a struggle for me in so many ways, and I think it shows... I lost my way more than once. In one of those familiar twists of publishing, the book just hit the streets recently but I actually painted this cover back in 2012. So I'd like to hope I've improved since then... at least I know a little more now about composition, contrast and leaving enough bloody room for the title.

Anyhow, I like the parts that I like, and I'm working on being better at the things I did poorly. That's how I go.

What, no kleptomaniac sidekick?

Not for this character, since it's not a portrait of Wax. Much like the cover to the first Mistborn RPG, the idea was to depict a character evocative of those in the novels, without actually depicting that character in particular.

Though I do have portraits of Wax, Wayne, Marasi and Miles in the pages of the book.

The Lawman looks like a Lurcher more than a Coinshot.Β  Would I be correct in that assumption?

The guy in the wagon looks like a Lurcher though. I looks like he's pulling the silver bars into the wagon.Β

Nah, he's gotta be Push and not Pull, because he's deflected some of the bullets. Also, flying... or at least falling with style.

This book was amazing. Β This artwork is also amazing to match! Β The movement and poses are so dynamic, not to mention the perspective and detail.. That deflected bullet. Β This is just so awesome! O.o

I really need to get around to reading those books. This looks like a scene straight out of GunGaleOnline, SAO s2, except with blue bullet prediction lines instead of red ones.

I really need to get around to watching the second series of SAO.

In the Mistborn books, the blue lines point to nearby sources of metal (any kind), and the Allomancer can use his power to push the metals away, or (if the source of metal is anchored or heavy) push himself into the air. In this case he's doing a bit of both, pushing away bullets before they can strike and pushing something behind/below to throw himself into the air.

I love the Mistborn books! I had no idea they were making a game! That's awesome!

Thanks! It's a tabletop RPG. There's a main corebook that covers the trilogy, an update that adds detail to the Terrismen, and now a third book that adds new material for Alloy. There's original short fiction from Brandon in the first and latest books (a Kelsier origin story and a new tale of Allomancer Jak, Gentleman Adventurer), and they try to be as much a companion to the original novels as a set of rules... they do a lot to expand on the fiction with stuff based on Brandon's notes and input.

If you're a tabletop gamer, I think you might like it. But I'm biased.

I've never been a tabletop gamer but I might have to give this a shot just because I absolutely love the Mistborn books. The original 3 are my favorite but it was really awesome how he was able to bring that world into a western setting. I'm seriously going to have to check out this game. Thanks for the info and the awesome artwork!
