Amazing, I love western pictures, and this one clearly depicts one of the most exploitable scenes a western can provide.
Love it!

great work as usual, man! are they ever going to release that game for PC, or is it exclusive? i have to say, all that exclusive shit is for the birds.

No idea, though I hear it's a bear to port. Apparently GTA4 for the PC didn't come out so well?

Thanks to you I did some research on MS EX and I'm going to give it a shot. If it does half the crap they claim it does, I'll be impressed.

Haha, too late. Already got EX! I'm really impressed with it's memory management. I'm flying through stuff in it that takes me forever in Photoshop, just because Adobe products can't manage ram to save their coding. I'm honestly floored by inking in vector layers with the brush nib for the pen. It's the first time inking digitally has felt like inking with my real tools only faster. Also, the 3-D stuff is a blast to have on the go. I had my laptop with me while I was stuck at the car dealership and just started tooling around and before I knew it I had a reference model posed and lit. So, I must say thank you for turning me onto it. I'm going to have to revisit some old photoshop files that I never finished and see what kind damage I can do now.

I think you might be right about flipping it but what I think needs to be brought out to sell the dust is the impact point of the body, It took me a bit to see that he'd left a mark in the clouds.

Looks great! Love how loose you are with the smoke. Not sure if it was intentional, but I'm having a little trouble with the depth of the body on the guy to the left. The others are awesome! I'm going to have to hop on Penciljack.

It's my favorite place to talk comics. There's a few other professionals, a lot of fans, and a pretty good atmosphere. You should totally show some of your work there.

I'm feeling the man falling but I agree the horse looks like it's still charging on ahead.
Either way, this is fucking ace, love the action you've managed to pack in such a small sketch.

Cool. Very samurai. My only gripe would be the lack of gore on the corpse. The hat, with its gaping hole and broken chin strap, implies that pony-boy has a chunky exit wound on his skull. His tumbling body should be leaving a sloppy red line on the ground like an anthropomorphic paint brush.

You're probably right about the gore, though I'm not sure how much you really would get from a blasted head wound. Once the skull empties out there's still blood to go but the chunky bits clear out pretty quick I would think.
I thought the gaping hole in his face was enough, but maybe I obscured it too much.

this is awesome dude! If i can throw a recommendation out there; I'd flip it and add a horizon to unite things spatially. A white sky and grey gradient at the bottom would add to the depth.
But this is a sweet piece. Really fluid looking characters and motion

Inkthinker In reply to JHarren [2010-06-30 09:18:00 +0000 UTC]
I was thinking a stronger white gradient (there's already a slight one) would be too much, but perhaps your right.
I was on the fence with flipping it. I like that with this orientation you read horse -> corpse -> shooter, but flipping it would allow the action to follow the reading flow.
Hrm.

i think if you played up the dust from the 'loser' in front of our 'winner', making it overlap him and be more opaque, you might have more luck.

The movement is great here! The dead man's roll seems a lil awkward to me, like his should be rolling more on his side instead of tumbling forward.
