Description We adopted a new dog -- a brindle mastiff -- named Skittles. She's our biggest dog ever; in fact, she probably weighs more than me. She's very protective, now that she's warmed up to me.

She's the largest dog I've ever owned, which isn't saying much, since my previous dog was a corgi.

I have yet to own one, but I've been around them and took in one that was abandoned and badly injured once and he was definitely the largest dog I've had for any amount of time too, lol. But he was a gentle giant and I would love to have one of my own. The funny thing is the little dogs are usually the leaders or "boss" in a family where there's also a large dog. In my case I had a small terrier and several Labradors; no one doubted who was in charge though

Another large dog I would love to own is the Great Pyrenees. Have you seen those? Giant beauties

Another advantage to having a mastiff is home defense. They're incredibly protective, & when they bark, it'll intimidate the hell out of an intruder.

The Great Pyrenees is a beautiful breed. I hear they're also very protective.

Oh I know! Another reason I would love to have one, lol. I had a Shepherd also that was very protective at a young age. Everyone is afraid of Rottweilers too but all the ones I've known are so loveable, the only way they'd kill you is by licking you to death or giving you too big of a hug because they're so heavy

Rottweilers are demonized, as are pit bulls. They're vicious due to neglect, which is such a shame.

Yeah, it's so sad. My bf had a pitbull and it was the sweetest dog and loved to cuddle. Like most things, the problem lies with man, not Mother Nature.

A Mastiff named Skittles? Interesting name. She looks good!

It's a name given to her by her previous owners. I would've gone with a more intimidating name.

She looks quite imposing yet with a gentle gaze, I hope she will get along great with everyone in the family. ^^

Her bark is more intimidating than her appearance.

Big doggie! How old is she? I often wonder what it would be like if I had a big dog... going for a walk would be interesting if it decided it wanted to chase after something!

She's about 5 years old.
I recommend the breed. Since she has a calm temperament, she's good for walks. Of course, if she wanted, she could drag me away.
