I just stumbled over this picture so I thought I'd try to write something more in-depth. As always a superb sense of colour and light and I suppose the use of a single dominating colour-scale (sepia or umbra-like) is a conscious choice, however it also limits the possibilities of expression. To add only one or a few other nuances - in the sky or perhaps to express the atmospheric perspective with the addition of turquoise (warm pastel blue) on the buildings further away - would so to speak break the sepia spell and dramatically enhance the sense of life in the picture, as opposed to an old sepiacoloured photo from a hundred years past. Also the fish-eye effect is I suppose a matter of personal taste, but I get a little nauseated by it (with the almost gravitydefying leaning buildings). This genre (basically the photomanipulation genre) is always at the risk of turning into or slightly tangenting what might be called "kitsch" (in the same sense that imaginative and folkloristic motifs easily falls into the pitfalls of fantasy-clichées), I think one of the dangers being extreme distortion of the image (as with the fish-eye feel), but it's still minor compared to the overuse of bright and motley colour or overuse of aftereffects such as sunrays, glares or textures. This image easily avoids these latter pitfalls, except perhaps the fish-eye feel.
These are however only minor considerations. I suppose not much really can go wrong when an accomplished artist like inObrAS sets to work. Naturally I think it's a beautiful picture, otherwise I would't take pains to write this rough draft of a critique. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s… " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Smile)"/> Hope you find it at least a little bit useful.
I will have to consider these ratings in comparison to some other of your works, which would easily score maximum on all aspects - but would hence also be more boring to evaluate... e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s… " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Smile)"/>

Regards
Torbjörn

The photo has glory beyond understanding. From the beautifully angled buildings that allow the perfect amount of sunlight to seep through and give an eerie glow to everything, to the almost unreal clouds that are crawling from the edges as if they crave the sun that is hidden behind the central building or possibly they are being forced away from the center from the burst of a sun set, either way beautifully placed. The people are almost doll like which gives this glorious photo an almost unrealistic style yet at the same time the realism comes through and it boggles the mind. The choice of placing the trees to the right in this picture gives it an extra color to express with while at the same time on the other side, the white blankness gives off a nice contrast. This is one of my favorite pictures I've seen in a long while.
