and I read on the site that you linked me to that a veiled wasn't the best first choice, but in other places I've read that it was. do you have an opinion on this? sorry for all the questions :/

I personally think Veileds make a good first cham. At the end of the day any chameleon is still going to be one of the more difficult herps to care for. They require a lot more work than most others. If you can, get a male though. You will have much more colour variations with a male (females actually usually just stay different shades of green) and there's also less chance of complications with a male. You don't have to deal with ghost pregnancies or the risk of the cham becoming egg-bound.

yeah I read about the problems with the females. I'm hoping for a male. I heard veils are REALLY agressive. it's the only kind I can find near by ^.^"

Aggressive? Not experienced that at all. The males can puff themselves up and hiss occasionally but only if you don't handle them/care for them correctly.
