Mulan as Psylocke has been done.
Iron Fist is a good choice because, beyond the obvious Asian martial arts aspect, Iron Fist is a current Avenger and is also in the Ultimate Spiderman series, so he has higher popularity than an obscure character from the past, like Mantis.

Actually Mantis ([link] (Marvel_Comics)) was a member of the Avengers.
You may have her confused with a similiar character. Although with all of the universal reboots and cross overs and retcons, it wouldn't surprize me if she's bounced around the galaxy and comic companies a time or two.

That story was "disavowed" and the secretary denies all knowlege of it in continunity...
"The storyline was controversial, so much so that Kurt Busiek, in Avengers Forever limited series, retconned the Mantis who appeared in the story as being a Space Phantom brainwashed into thinking he was Mantis"
Personally this is what I loath about the numerous retcons / reboots. You can no longer know what stories or story elements remain cannon for the characters.
As for Mulan, she looks great as Iron Fist and I'm not sure you could get her into that original Mantis costume [link] anyway. Although she would look good in this Peter Temple revision [link] (by_Peter_Temple).jpg

Can't say that I blame you. I had left X-men and Avengers, most Marvel titles due to similiar bad writing / character assasination stories.
Pretty much the same thing that is killing of my DC titles right now. Wonder if the same parties are responsible.

Iron Fists is like a Wyvern....and though a Chinese dragon would be good the canvas it kinda small.
