Yo, I've seen this picture a few times and today it was really big and this is one of the few pictures that really holds well enlarged.

Ahh, I never really even noticed the whole "old vs. new" bit. But I guess it is pretty prominent.
the "new" looking (but still probably 20-30 years old] maps are printed on mylar, which is probably why they aren't all torn by now.

ahhh, I've been meaning to slap a border around this beauty for a while...if it wasn't 2:30AM, I would be more than willing to do so... However, no school tomorrow = plenty of free time. I'll be keeping busy with this and many others for sure.

I love the angle and the depth of field of this photograph, looks detailed but really focused on the overall objects, great job

I really like the idea, and the angle, and the lighting...but where is the focus supposed to be? The maps in the center are very slightly out of focus (and in case you're wondering, I do have very good eyesight). The thing that's the most in focus seems to be the inside of the bottom left map. See how clear those lines are, compared to...let's say end of the map thats pretty much in the center of the photo? The ends of that center map, where the paper is bent, are pretty out of focus.

So...back to the positive stuff. Good eye, spotting this and realizing that it might make a good photo and nice work picking out the angle.

hmm, the focus is a bit off because i had to get pretty close to these to get the shot [using a 50mm lens and theres not much room behind me] and i believe i was kneeling, and i dont have a very steady hand. the focus probably aslo seems scewed because the shot has been flipped horizontally. I tried to retake it a couple times...but it just didnt come out the same.

(lol. We keep finishing typing at the same time, it seems.)

I know what that's like. Close-up shots are tough. Move even a little bit and everything goes out of focus. Too bad. Still, this is pretty nice, even without being perfectly focused.

Maps are lovely. I love the tone of this photo and the beaten look of some of the maps. Seems like a nice atmosphere.
And I don't know if this is just me, but when I look at it I get dizzy because of the lines from the circles that lead me through the entire photo. Kinda swirly.
Maybe I'm just stupid.

I've tried to do more...its actually harder than I thought...it just never turns out right/the same. I might try again...its just a matter of me bringing my camera to work again, and sneaking off into the file room, heh.

heh, i know that's hard to do things like this when you want them to look right
it's better that you want things to go bad, and than pieces like this emerge out of nowhere
good job on this one thou
