The title was seasonal, but I was thinking Hokusai when i took the photograph, but I forgot the name of the piece was 'Tsunami'.

interesting...
out of curiosity, in your opinion how important is intention to art?...

I'm torn...
I think meaning inheres in symbols... and, in this modern world, images are symbols... we have been "trained" to read them... like it or not... so, considering that meaning will be seen, I think that artist has to manage/manipulate that... to some degree... which is why I believe that intention is very important... things on the "canvas" should be where they are because of some sort of deliberate act... an artist should have some idea how the work will be seen... and that should manifest itself in some fashion on the canvas...
that said, I want to say that beauty is beauty... however it is found/made... but, somehow, I just can't believe that... it feels a bit naive... a forced romanticism...
I hope that makes some sense...

very, very interesting...
I have a few thoughts... but, before I say anything, I am very curious what you might tell me about that piece... at the very least, when and why...

hmmm...when? Several days ago why... a pattern or form that I look for,

etc
but here the 'artist'? ponders the 'work in progress'?
I suppose a good portion of my work is about open ended/mystery...what is going on here..is this real..is this really a place...where is she going....to provoke a question in the viewers mind...simply..."What is this?"

i see what you mean... and it is something i have long admired in your work... for lack of better description, it is filled with emptiness... there is a lot of drama... a surreal tension (if that makes any sense)...
this image, in my opinion, doesn't quite make it to that point... it could be because it has a figure, but i don't think so... i have seen other images form you that have figures... not that it isn't a good image... but it lacks that quality... that, for me, desirable but elusive quality... which is why i was wondering your why and when... i was trying to understand the image in terms of your larger body of work...
oh, and for what it is worth, i understood/interpreted the figure as an analogue of the viewer... not the image-maker... just in case that matters to you...

the figure was intended as open ended, artist viewer or neither, I think you are right, it was a test piece and Edredon's comment,'it is a landscape' opened my eyes up to another way, this story will be told again. Thanks as always.
