Jeanette:
-is pretty, but doesn’t realize it – though Eleanor and Brittany keep insisting its truth – so she doesn’t do much as far as grooming goes: she still wears her coke-bottle glasses (though she owns contact lenses) and keeps her hair up in various ways

-her academic interests are leaning more towards literature and history, but she keeps up with her sciences in order to spend time with Simon – which her sisters protest against

-Simon’s apparent neglect of Jeanette is something both Brittany and Eleanor have taken a keen interest in, as they are both concerned for their sister’s emotional stability

-she keeps a journal of poetry and prose that usually relates her feelings in some hidden way, but her sister’s don’t realize the significance
