[...] Chewie growled. All resistance ships were almost out of the upper atmosphere, ready to make the jump into hyperspace. “It’s Rey. She needs our help. We have to go back!” Finn said as he entered the cockpit, closely followed by Jannah. But Chewie protested, mentioning the falling and exploding Star Destroyers they would have to swerve again if they went back.
“I agree with Chewie on this one.” Lando added. “The skies are full of those things.” It was indeed like a close-knit planetary asteroid field.
But Finn didn’t care. Getting Rey was the only thing that mattered to him now.
“Hey, wasn’t this the fastest ship in the galaxy? This is the perfect time to prove it.” He knew Lando didn’t like it when people doubted the Falcon’s capabilities.
“Whatever you say, general.” Lando accepted the provocation. Plus, he really liked that girl. She reminded him of his old friends. Although he had only met her once Rey had immediately grown close to his heart. It would have been a pity to leave her behind. And then he remembered, “Didn’t she get here with Luke’s ol’ ship?”
“Maybe she can’t reach it. Maybe she’s hurt.” Finn worried.
Shortly after Chewie turned the Falcon off-course they received an incoming call from Poe.
“General, what are you doing? The fleet is toast! There’s nothing left to blow up.” Poe joked, expecting Lando to answer. But Finn replied instead. “Poe, it’s Rey. She’s alive!”
“Well of course she’s alive!” Poe immediately chanted in his excitement.
“No, you don’t know, she was…” Finn started to explain, but he figured it would be best to leave it simple and quick. “…she sent a distress call.”
“I didn’t receive any distress signal from Red 5.” Poe replied sceptically.
“We neither.” Lando added, slowly looking up to Finn.
“Finn, what is this about? Is this one of your I’ll-tell-you-when-Poe’s-not-here secrets again?” Poe feared. He knew there were certain things Finn kept secret from him and for some reason it was driving him crazy.
“What? No-”
“When are you finally going to tell me what’s going on?”
“I’ll tell you when we get back.”
“Sure, you will.”
Because there was a very high chance that Finn and Poe were going to start arguing, Jannah decided it would be best to intervene, before they would end up fighting for no reason. “She probably just needs a pickup. It won’t take long. We’ll be back in no time.” she hoped.
“That’s not what this is about.” Poe sighed. “Look, I don’t know what kind of game you and Rey are playing, Finn, but we are going to have a little chat after this. I’ll send some men to pick up Red 5. If she called you – however she has done that –” Poe accentuated, “she must be unable to get to her ship. Call me when you get back. Over and out.” [...]
