Excellent model! I know, it's a lot of work to create such a locomotive because I did this too.

looks great and great detail!

only one little problems i see with it is it would move 1 foot forward and stop and then rip itself apart from its design, the rear 3 linked wheels are the issue that transmission beam/s has no where to go cant see any openings they could move through or over the counterweights and even if they where hollowed out the centeral support pins for each of them 3 wheels would be in the way and if they whent over the top there would be another part in the way!

but apart from that its excelent (sorry for the critasism but im an engeneer and i get caught up on detail)!

Thanks, thats good to know, i was going to work more on it, ill take that in mind
With a model like this one, it would be nice to know somo engeneering, in my case i only had pictures as models

if you need help just ask and ill give you pointers! them 3 wheels on it look ok themself but its just that drive beam that links them that would make it unmovable if this is your design retink how the parts move! best way is to make a mockup of the wheels (cylinders), beams (cubes) ect and annomate them in rotation to see if any parts collide thats the best way! i always do that if i make anything that has visible moving parts of it all goes wrong.

Amazing work!

I cant actually go to see the tutorial since I canceled my DT membership a year ago - Folks there are too obsessed with Max and Maya to put any effort into Cinema4D training.

Yeah i know, nothing for Cinema4D, but for me its more interesting that way, to look at a tutorial that was made for a different 3d program and that way a have to figure it out how to make it in Cinema, i learned a lot with this model, it was a great exercise

True, as most techniques can be applied to various applications except for things like Thinking Particles and Dynamics.

I learned a bit just working on my own project I started a few days back, but it's not nearly as detailed as yours.

it defenatly is.. just imagining it with textures.. no one will be able to recognize is it a 3D model or an actual locomotive btw render is Vray?

iosa In reply to 5T3EF4N [2011-12-10 11:07:48 +0000 UTC]

Its not Vray, just GI, but il defenatly make a Vray render, first i wanna add some more parts to it, some rails and a coal wagon and then i can start adding textures, all this will have to wait, at the moment im finishing 3 other interesting projects

This looks like a locomotive I recently saw in a little transformers project someone did. Is this the same model? As well as the tutorial link is broken.
