Description I seek to have the compass of your feelings rust,
the needle pinned at delirium;
to watch dust settle in the trough
of azure moods that lay banished
beyond the circle of my arms.

I wish to wake up to you,
as to a second sunrise,
all the mornings of my life;
that the warmth to which you've made my heart accustomed
would ever fill the hollow places in my bones.

I hope to find wholeness
in the clasp of your embrace -
strength and gentleness in equal measure -
adoration passed between us
with every heartbeat.

I pray that the vines of our seeking selves,
the marrow of what makes us each unique,
find new ways to intertwine,
growing together as we climb upward
ever upward.

And I need the echo of my voice
to haunt the span of my absence,
that the last thing your spirit hears
before your eyes close for the night
are the words, I love you.
