Well, they kissed in the episode "A Hearth's Warming Tail". So, you maybe can say that the relationship is or was canon. I don't know.

VERY cute! Though I wonder why ponies need winter outfits in some episodes and not others...?
IRL, horses grow extra fur for the winter and shed it in the springtime, though if the horses are kept indoors, the process can be prevented from happening---maybe ponies who spend too much time indoors never get their winter fur? IDK...

Who knows. The most ponys are dressed like Autumn Leaf in winter. There are only a few ponies who wear clothes (they are all bottomless and the most have short-sleeved clothes) and not only a scarf or boots. And some Ponies wear nothing, even in winter episodes. I don't know how the creators of the show choose who wear what in the winter episodes. And why they are sometimes undressed and sometimes not, I don't know. I mean, Fluttershy as example wears in the episode Tanks for the memories a sweater, but in the episode Heart's warming tail only a scarf (what looks cuter in my opinion). Why? I don't know.
