I don't think he likes me because I break rules and defend the little guys. Oh well. I can't please everyone.

Very, very true. I'm almost paranoid about how my writing is anyway. I have struggles that I'm trying to overcome, so I feel I need to watch every little step. It's nerve wracking at times! I do know that if I don't try to make everything I write count (even posts) that it'll be that much harder when doing my writing in general. Run on sentences are a real weak point for me, but I do want to improve.

I don't agree on the post thing. I've been very active online since the late seventies and a post or chat isn't the same as writing a book. I think the focus on writing perfect posts forces us to spend so much time trying to communicate that we don't have time for the real writing. I will say that the real writing does impact your posts though. The more you do the real writing the better written your posts will be. Unless you are a) drunk, b) feeling lazy, or c) having a brain dead moment.
