Description The city of Oxford is a great place to live as you are only a short walk or bike ride from the countryside, I have been told by many friends about hidden parts of Oxford and surrounding areas. I was told many months ago about a small lake just outside of Wolvercote, next to this lake were some old traction Engines. I have been off work for a few weeks so I decided it would be great to take this free time and do some more photography, I had to sneak into this lake as the land is owned by National rail. I was expecting just some old rusting steam engines or stream rollers. What I found was amazing, I walked along the track leading from the road side to an opening by the side of the lake and I found an old traction yard. Everything had just been left there to rust away, from steam rollers, old tractors to and old 1930's truck. Most of it was undercover and I didn’t want to disturb it, this is one of the best finds for me so far and I feel that I will be going back there one day soon.

Seeing this old traction yard made me feel a small connection with the past, these machines were made for a reason and now are just left alone, rusting, falling apart, obsolete. it amazes me how we take so much for granted and forget where we have been or achieved, that these things that were once loved and tended too by man are now just a form of constructed scrap metal, left to disappear hidden from the rest of the world.
