Description    The North American F-100 Super Sabre was a supersonic jet fighter aircraft that served with the United States Air Force (USAF) from 1954 to 1971 and with the Air National Guard (ANG) until 1979. The first of the Century Series collection of USAF jet fighters, it was the first USAF fighter capable of supersonic speed in level flight. The F-100 was originally designed by North American Aviation as a higher performance follow-on to the F-86 Sabre air superiority fighter.

Adapted as a fighter bomber, the F-100 would be supplanted by the Mach 2 class F-105 Thunderchief for strike missions over North Vietnam. The F-100 flew extensively over South Vietnam as the Air Force's primary close air support jet until replaced by the more efficient subsonic LTV A-7 Corsair II. The F-100 also served in other NATO air forces and with other U.S. allies. In its later life, it was often referred to as "the Hun," a shortened version of "one hundred."  Source: Wikipedia

The image shows two Super Sabres of 417th TFS/ 50th TFW while stationed at Ramstein Air Base in the late fifties. The foreground aircraft was the personal mount of the Commander of 417th TFS. Created with Cinema4D, Maxwell Renderer and Photoshop, using the well known 3D model of bazze. This is pretty much a complete overhaul of the model with all new maps, had even to work on the UVs to get it look as it should.

Gotta say I love your work. typically I avoid the hell out of renders for my extensive library of digital wallpaper but yours are done so well, no jaggies. If memory servers me right the F-100 was the first fighter to achieve supersonic speed in level flight. There so sleek they always made me think of blue sharks for some reason.

The F-100 was the workhorse of U.S. Airforce during the Vietnam war.

"The Hun had logged 360,283 combat sorties during the war and its wartime operations came to end on 31 July 1971. The four fighter wings with F-100s flew more combat sorties in Vietnam than over 15,000  P-51 Mustangs flew during World War II." Wikipedia

Oh thanks for that info! Most books and war movies etc mostly show the phantom II and Skyraiders and cobras etc operate in nam, not often I see F-100 in those.
Learned a lot of new facts so thank you

Really nice work - love the clouds and the lighting, the exhaust trail on the Hun in the background, and the sheen on the fuselage of the Hun in the foreground.  Simply fantastic attention to little details that really add a lot to the overall realism!

Huns rock!
