I bet. I'm working on a few portraits myself, that hopefully I will upload using line and stippling. How long did it take you to do?

itva In reply to dodavis419 [2012-02-04 14:13:45 +0000 UTC]

This piece took about 70 hours total spread out over 6 months. I coached a season of wrestling in the middle of that, so about 3 months of the 6 I didn't work on it much. Good luck completing your projects to your satisfaction

Sometimes when I do pointillism I try to count but I give up because it takes so much longer. You're welcome.

That is some INSANE stippling! The detail shots really shows your patience too. Personally, I would never attempt that, far too time consuming =]

itva In reply to spirit-of-earth [2010-03-09 14:05:29 +0000 UTC]

My current stippling piece is 5 times as big with the same amount of detail. Whatever sanity I had left after this one will have surely escaped by the time i finish it Patience is my speciality being an art educator Thanks for the comment- Mike

Whoa, what motivates you to make more stippling pieces? :0 Ah, some extra patience can never hurt.

itva In reply to spirit-of-earth [2010-03-10 01:54:00 +0000 UTC]

I suppose it's the challenge, I like to push myself on many different levels. Stippling is the polar opposite to the airbrush work I more commonly do. Airbrush is fast and immediate, stippling forces me to slow down and take my time. This allows me to ponder how the work looks over a greater period and make adjustments. It will probably never be profitable either, again the opposite of my airbrush work. Art for arts sake to put it simply.
