Description For Grandma, who decided her book club was finished with herons and now needed blue birds. She asked for it to be in color, so in color she got. XD

This was two hours of my life on that hatching, man. TINY LINES TINY LINES. D:

The whole thing in real life, for reference, is 6"x11"

Done with Speedball red, blue, and superblack (non-perm) via pen and ink, Winsor & Newton Emerald via brush, and a homebrew brown concoction (PONY BROWN! ) via brush, too.

Hoping she likes it and doesn't make me redo the damn thing, because this was two hours of my life. XD;

Clearly tiny!lines = LOOOOVE. XD

I like the blue/red combo.

Though if you want it to look more realistic....... (*cough* PLEASE DON'T KILL ME! *cough) XD you could add some green highlights to the blue feathers.

That's a really good idea. I don't think I will, because I really had a lot of fun with just minimal colors and the gradient based on the hatching. Also, none of the references I looked at had the blue being a blue-green? More a blue-brown if anything. Plus it winding up so small (250 px wide. o_o; ), I was hard-pressed for /any/ of the detail to show up. *SHRUG*

Thank you! It was seriously a lot of fun playing with the colors (I don't often have an excuse to do so ) and all the hatching. I'm learning to love doing hatching.
