I have a couple questions. Is the second volume a stand alone? Or do you need the first volume to understand the story? Also, is this a full on graphic novel? Or writing with illustrations?

Hello~ you need vol.1 to understand the story line. And it's more like fiction with illustrations, some are full colors, some are sketches.
