I think of the Rankin and Bass Smaug!

This strange, ugly, unflattering cat beast of a dragon with a baratone voice and a casual attitude as some little punk rolls up in his crib and starts talking crap. This is where the live action got it wrong. For all the dumb things in the movie, I could have forgiven them if they'd done the boast of Smaug right. This little cartoon got it right. This is one of my favorite images I created from the set.
