Do you know what kind of flower is growing up the wall? I thought of wisteria at first, but it's not wisteria, or if it is it's not a type I've seen before.

No unfortunately I do not, but this village does have lots of Wisterias, climbing up the castle walls.

A kind commenter told me it looked like lilacs. Looking at it again, it sort of looks like a very tall butterfly bush.

My Grandmother had many, many different flowers and flowering plants and it was magical for me as a child. So much beauty and variety, butterflies and dragonflies all around.
