Description
This is a project that I've rediscovered around 5 times throughout the years and every time I was just as surprised that I started something like that! Today (or actually yesterday, but I haven't slept yet and it's 7 a.m. where I live at the moment) I decided I will finish it. And so I did. At first I wanted this to be just lineart and base colors, but then I thought I might as well add some shading. And highlights. And a background...
Tbh I wanted to put an edited background from TLK there, but then decided I'll just do it myself hah. Kinda wanted to play with shadows in a non-obvious way, making them a little bit unpredictable and I like how it turned out.

Here it is! Kopa's Pride.

And now... quick descriptions of these guys's relationships with Kopa.
Nuka - Even though Nuka is older and grumpier than Kopa, disagrees just to disagree, argues just to argue and overall can be a killjoy at times, Kopa treasures him and sees him as his best friend as through time Nuka has grown on him. And vice versa - Nuka doesn't have many friends and while expressing his fondness of Kopa comes to him with difficulty, he couldn't be more grateful for their friendship. What's more, even though Nuka would never say it out loud, he's had quite a crush on Kopa for many months now.
Vitani - One of Kopa's best friends. They have mutual attraction towards each other. They are very close, but not as close as Kopa is with Asante or Nuka. Vitani often serves as another point of view for Kopa. She's a great companion, gives great advice and he admires her for her set of skills. Even though it's obvious they are crushing on each other, they can have a hard time expressing their feelings for each other.
Kiara - Kopa's sister. Even though Kopa hated the idea of a sister at first and disliked Kiara a lot when she was born, she is now his whole world thanks to Simba giving him a "mission" to be a great older brother and making it seem like fun. Kopa feels important and fulfilled while on his "mission". He wants to protect his baby sister at all costs and set an example for her on how to act like royalty and respect the circle of life. He would jump into fire to save her if the situation called for it.
Boga - she's one of Kopa's friends and playmates. Has had a small crush on Kopa when they first met, until he rejected her. Even though their friendship suffered because of that for some time, making the cubs hate each other, they have now found a common language and can't really live without playing pranks on other animals together anymore.
Asante - Kopa's first and best friend. They have completely different views on most things and tend to often disagree or even sometimes argue. In the end they always come around and find an agreement somewhere in the middle. They complete each other through being total opposites - Kopa makes Asante let loose and not see everything through pessimism and Asante grounds him, keeping many of his dumb ideas exactly just that - ideas.
Mheetu - Kopa's favorite uncle! Even though Mheetu is a young adult already, he often acts like a cub due to not having much of a cubhood during Scar's reign. Loves playing with all the younglings, making them smile and laugh. He's basically the "cool uncle". Kopa is gonna miss him when Mheetu leaves to search for his own pride.
Beba - Good friend of Kopa. They love playing together. Kopa appreciates Beba and is thankful to him for not being the only one to turn on him (at first) for having a hyena friend. While Beba and Kopa might not have that much of a relationship with each other, they are indestructable when in the same friend group with Asante or with Afua, Babu and Boga.
Afua - Good friend of Kopa. They play a lot together. Afua is nice and respectable and always ready to lend a hand, so it's hard not to like him. Afua also has no problem with liking anyone (he did have a problem with being friends with a hyena at first). They just like each other.
Babu - Babu is Kopa's frenemy. They have the same friend group so it's hard not to spend time with each other. Playing is fine, but they have different views on many things and Babu is kind of a jerk and can be just straight up mean about things, which doesn't sit right with Kopa. Still they don't have any ill intentions towards or hate each other. They're just cubs who both feel like leaders for their friend groups and thus can argue at times.
