Description I had this sketched for ages, but only now did I decided to revamp and actually colour it. I think it was worth me waiting to do though; I tried out a few new things in this even if it doesn't look great (the table's impossible to make out and the Quilava was an afterthought that looks decidedly naff.)

Anyway, the Voltorb Flip, I think, actually added FAR more risk than the slot machines ever did. Like, do you go flip another over and risking losing, or do you bank your coins? You get a fair few moments like this where you're like "OH GOD PLEASE-"

And I am fully aware the Voltorb Flip doesn't actually have flippable cards but you GET THE IDEA.

Thank you Drayano. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!
Thank you for lowering the cost of everything to Gen 3 prices, and bringing back the 'dosh->coins' exchange.

I enjoyed the Voltorb Flip Game more than I ever enjoyed the old slots >w> w> I just love puzzles. I could sit for hours and be very entertained, getting to the high levels Have to admit though, when I got a couple of thousands of points it started getting a little boring, so I used a gameshark to get coins enough for the TMs that I wanted :I They should really have made it so you could buy coins... Still came back to play the Voltorb Flip thing even though there wasn't anymore I was interested in though :3

I agree, the Voltorb Flip was actually a very good game, and it was also nice just to see a PokΓ©mon game contain such a substantial minigame inside it for once. But yeah, my only problem with it was actually it's ability to earn you coins (which was supposed to be the whole point!) So, I don't blame you for using a gameshark; earning enough coins for the good stuff was just ridiculous. I don't think it paid out as much as it should have, and yeah, I really wish you could've still bought coins. At least it was there, though. As in, not like the "scrounging for loose change" thing they added to EU versions of Platinum. :/

This game is so frustrating! It took me forever to get the TMs!!

Haha yeah I know right? I found Voltorb Flip so hard I didn't even bother trying to win enough coins for anything. Kinda wish they'd left the ability to buy coins like in the older versions :/
And thanks for the fave :U

I'm debating whether I will put in the effort to get a thunderbolt TM for one of my PokΓ©mon -- 10000 coins!! 0_o

Jacktoon In reply to YaibaKitsune [2012-09-24 19:39:17 +0000 UTC]

Hahaha yeah, 10,000 coins is pretty steep for a one-use TM. Sometimes it's better to pass the TM moves to eggs rather than using the actual TM. But, obviously that doesn't work if it's a PokΓ©mon you've already trained up that needs the move. :C

Yeah, the TM is for my Gengar
Well, I've saved up a few coins now, but there where times during the game where I probably said "Oh please... no!" >_<
Silly voltorb

Jacktoon In reply to SiKKiN [2011-02-28 23:06:27 +0000 UTC]

Haha yeah, for what was probably the most infuriating minigame ever, it was strangely addicting. I think if "OH GOD PLEASE" moments prove anything, it's that everyone will keep trying until they eventually do it, even if that possibility is stupidly unlikely
Thanks for the fave too!

I love this game I tend to get to level 5 before I get bored. Anything up to 3 is a cinch. I suppose you're aware there's a knack? I've got about 9000 coins, which is enough for a Porygon AND a meme, though I've no idea how they expect us to buy the higher-end prizes, they're like ten times the price! Not smart, GF.

Nice use of lighting, very - suspensful! But the lines... well, I think you know? :/

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Jacktoon In reply to DunnyCT [2011-02-28 22:58:14 +0000 UTC]

You are trying to make this sound easier than it is. You know it.
Lawls, seriously, I've never gotten past round three.
I know how to work out if a line is dud, but whenever I locate the remaining multipliers it still comes down to an either-or between it and a potential Voltorb tile.
But yeah, I resorted to importing the TMs from Emerald rather than buy them. Ice Beam and Thunderbolt, in particular, are so important to have, and I honestly did not want to flip Voltorbs for hours on end to get them (I know the idea is to NOT flip Voltorbs but--)

Anyway yeah, I've given up hope in ever being able to draw straight lines. Still, it's not awful. I'm not aiming for linework with a crystal-clear and crisp clarity because...well--

would take ages just to have enough money to buy something good.I missed the slot machin, even if i wasn't playing them anyway.
You really catched the fear of getting a voltorb!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Jacktoon In reply to pouchnoubout [2011-02-28 22:52:32 +0000 UTC]

Thanks yeah, Voltorb Flip was really stressful because of the risk. I think they took the slots out because of gambling scares, but to be honest, I think the risk involved is still as high as flipping these stupid tiles. Getting coins took so long when you couldn't go buy them

...because I am a complete failure at slots.

STRATEGY GAMES FTW.

Jacktoon In reply to Maiumaora [2011-02-28 22:45:35 +0000 UTC]

I suppose you're right; slot machines do involve far more dumb luck.
If Voltorb Flip is a strategy game, does that then effectively make it a strategy game within a strategy game?

Maiumaora In reply to Jacktoon [2011-02-28 23:52:58 +0000 UTC]

This game is so horrible, but SO ADDICTING. I had to get a Wide Lens for my Steelix, and therefore had to go through the Voltorb gauntlet to do it. So much money wasted...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Jacktoon In reply to rockingyourstar [2011-02-27 12:48:59 +0000 UTC]

Hehe, and the money wasted is nothing compared to the time wasted too. I agree that Voltorb Flip is strangely addicting despite how brutally unfair it gets. Probably because you pretty much have to keep playing. Since you couldn't buy coins anymore ;_; It's like you want to play it just to justify the notion that it might be better than the slots.

But thanks I'd been wanting to try some dramatic lighting
