“Monday Night”

Essentially a quick sketch of Zero Kiyru (again) from Vampire Knight (M. Hino) in casual clothing. Although I love Zero no matter what he’s wearing, Hino doesn’t really draw him in casual clothes often, so I thought I’d give it a try and put him in a hoodie, listening to some music… because c’mon guys, we can’t honestly be expected to believe that Zero lives in a button up shirt all day, every day, can we? Even in the anime, and he’s hanging out at home- there he is with his white button up shirt.
And what exactly does he do besides hunt vampires, fight vampiric urges and sleep in horse stables? Who knows? Lol So I’ve decided to make him listen to music. I wanted to give the feel that this is just some (really good looking anime) guy that you just happened to see on the street. Or lounging at home.

An everyday feeling.

For anyone who’s familiar w/ my drawing style, (K!) you might notice it in this drawing. Hopefully, it doesn’t overshadow the way Hino intended Zero to be. I did this drawing up in an effort to clear my artist’s block- hence the return back to traditional tools. I did this up very quickly with an HB pencil, 24-set of Faber Castell pencil crayons (using a cross hatching technique, which you'll only be able to tell if you look at it close up), a kneadable eraser and an hour of Monday night. I named this Monday night not only because that’s when I drew it, but also because this is what I imagine Zero looking like on his own boring Monday nights, relaxing in his own space.
