Description I actually started this on Sept. 18th. (My birthday), but never finished it.

And wow. What a journey I went on...

After watching all of Fraggle Rock on DVD, I decided I wanted to make one. XD I knew nothing about puppets/puppetry and spent the next 5 months learning/reading/researching all I could find, about Jim Henson and such.
After questioning why the Fraggles and Muppets have no seams, I looked it up and learned they are made from Antron Fleece. It is a very plush fleece that when you pick the seams out, they are just about hidden. Unlike fleece in fabric stores, Antron fleece can be dyed. Georgia Stage is the only place in the U.S. that distributes it. So after e-mailing the lady in charge of the antron fleece sales, back-and-forth for about 1 month, about 1 month after that, I finally had a yard of the Antron fleece. I went through a lot of bullshit they handed me, some of it, I can't even begin to describe. When the box finally arrived, I see that they'd charged me $11 shipping for a box so big you could fit a bass drum in it, the fleece was folded neatly in one corner, and it only weighed about 12 oz. That box was MAYBE 1/8 full of fleece and the rest was just space, I couldn't beleive it.
It was $16.25 a yard, which I expected, that didn't bother me. It was the retarded shipping charge and the 2 months of bullshit I had to go through. I kept asking, "Has my order been shipped?" The lady kept saying she'd ship it Monday when their orders go out, but then kept saying it hasn't been shipped yet. So next monday I asked...And same thing. Next Monday it was Columbus day, next Monday she said it would be shipped the NEXT Monday! And so much other bullshit I'm not going to type out.

Anyway, it was a lot of fun to work with. I ordered White, and dyed it with RIT dye using the colors Teal and Kelly Green. I don't think it came out the best color that Boober is, but Boober can look anywhere from Blue to Green, which is a LOOOOOOT of shades inbetween those two. I just sort of made up the pattern for his fleece, it wasn't difficult, because he has no eyes! XD.
I wanted to get a knit fabric for his hat, and I never found the right fabric, and I couldn't find the right fur for his body. I've read up on how you can buy fur and boil it and all these different kinds of things to get it to look right, but I just never got around to finishing him. He's got a tail, arms and legs. XD but I don't know if I'll ever get around to finishing him.

Feel free to ask questions!
I wish I had somebody to ask where to start when I first got into this.

You might look harder. It was really difficult for me to get started on the small amount of info and vids out at the time, but I somehow managed. The rest is history, I can't make a video unless I start making a fraggle puppet again. Maybe someday.

You know i been tempted to make a couple of fraggles my self I was kind of thinking of making stuffed animals since i like to see there full bodies (so rare in the show though) I would have to make 4 of them though (two of mokie since my mom loves mokie) But what kind of matterial are you useing?

Well I do know that if you put some fake fur in the washing machine it can give it a nice matted look. It might not look exactly the same, though. The only reason I know this is because my mom has a blanket which was really just a thing of fake fur. This bit if information came in handy once I started getting into puppet building! Love the puppet, I say you should finish it!

Wow, that is REALLY good. I made a boober puppet, but I used a different kind of fleece I didn't have to dye. I did dye the body, though, and it turned my hands green.

You wouldn't happen to have a pattern for the hat, would you? I'm working on another boober for a friend and honestly, I want to make it look as good as yours!

Aw! Thanks! But no I don't have one, I honestly don't even remember how I put it together. I'd look for it, but I just moved and all of my stuff is in a huge mess.

That is such a nice Boober head.
I've often thought about dabbling in puppet making myself, but I don't have the space in my house to do it.

Lol yes, crafts take up a LOOOOT of space. I use a foldable ping-pong table while working, but when It's time to put materials away...lol

I usually just work sitting on my bed or on the floor. I also keep all my fake furs in a big cardboard box I got last Christmas. XD

Oh yeah! I meant to make a journal or something and link to it or promote it... 'cause it's awesome. And also I'm part of the videos, so... yeah, it could work. Or maybe a deviation.... but yeah, I'll totally do something.
