Eh, it was....okay. I was perfectly happy with the direction they took his character in, but I don't think it was properly earned from a storytelling perspective.

I agree with you. Skywalker was perfect in "last jedi." Epic character is always epic. ^_^Β

No you don't.
He called it "eh" and "okay" and you call it perfect. A far cry apart.
You're not agreeing with him so much as you're visiting his intentions.
But hey it turns out I agree with you...
if by "perfect" you mean "ruined."
Luke Skywalker was ruined in The Last Jedi.
On the other hand I would concede that Mark Hamill the actor was perfect in that movie. He took a script that he 100% disagreed with and still brought it to life in a believable and imaginative way. There's not many actors in Hollywood who could or would do that now a days. Mark Hamill is always a win.
Luke Skywalker R.I.P.

do you think there's a chance SW could be fixed? should it be fixed?

I'm not one to really say it's "broken". I do think that we'll get more satisfying and unique films once we leave the Skywalker saga behind. I think it was ultimately a mistake to try to divide their current storyline between all new characters and the old characters. I personally would have preferred them to go much further into the future dealing with the Skywalker lineage, revealing incrementally the connections to the old characters and with maybe a surprise cameo or two in there (as a Force ghost or flashback). Don't get me wrong, I love me some Luke, Leia, and Han. But movies is not where I want to experience their aging feebleness. I'd eagerly read a book about that instead.

Hmm...yes that does make sense. Blending in the older characters with the newer ones on a more smoother base would've been grand...hmm...who knows. Maybe things can get better over time. Like you, I would've loved to see a more accurate passing of the torch...
