Tales are going round of a mysterious new face on the entertainment scene in New Meridian, a mysterious, hypnotic, and beautiful young dancer known only as Shantae. No one knows where she came from or where she learned her extraordinary talents, but rumors abound... and of course, none of them, even at their wildest, approach the astonishing truth: Shantae isn't even from their world. She's a half-genie, gifted with genuine magic, which she channels through her dance moves and her lethally long locks of hair. The reason nobody's ever seen anything like her is that the world's never had anything like her, until that portal opened just nine months ago...

Shantae is quick-witted, confident, dangerously powerful, and more than capable of defending herself from the worst that the Canopy Kingdom has to offer, but at heart she's really just a lonely, scared teenage girl who wants nothing more than to go home -- if she could only find a way.
