A hanging fireplace.

This abandoned home is located in what is known as one of, if not the worst neighbourhoods in the the area.  It has high crime rates such as burglary, auto theft and assault.  The education system seems to be failing the neighbourhood with a very low percentage of people graduating high school and a lower than average income compared to the rest of the region.  But like with any neighbourhood in the area, things are beginning to show signs of change, with gentrification coming to the area, the community will evolve and undoubtedly get better with time.  The funny thing is when I first searched for this area before visiting, there were a number of articles depicting it as I have described but now that I am posting the video, I can't find any of that information, so I have have had to rely purely on memory.

When heading to the area I expected to feel unsafe not unlike when I drove down George Street in Toronto and thought I was going to get carjacked.  However when I arrived it didn't seem all that different from any other less than desirable area and didn't feel like I was in any immediate danger, although I did check several times to make sure my car was locked!

As I walked up to the home, I noticed that a lot of the overgrowth as well as large trees were being cleared from the lot, this was not the case only a few short weeks ago.  The home had everything left behind, furniture, personal belongings, paperwork and even a stuffed teddy bear along with everything else you would expect to find in a place where it appeared the owner just never came home one day.  The roof was failing and so were the floors, it seemed as though everything was literally beginning to disintegrate from extreme weather degradation and the home was just falling apart in general.  It was no real surprise since the home had been abandoned since 2003.  I don't know for sure but I would imagine since the lot was being cleared and my visit was from a few months ago that this home has likely been demolished, this is a good thing since it was a bit of a death trap.

I remember my mom taking me to the local mall because Mr. T was supposed to be making a special appearance, there were hundreds of people that showed up and we didn't have a great view.  When he finally arrived he speed walked through the crowed and we barely caught a glimpse of him, what a disappointment that was!
Who here is an 80s kid that remembers watching The A Team?
