Chilling, macabre, breathtaking. In this work you show so many layers of meaning, of societal reflection, of self-reflection. The message seems clear yet just undefined enough to retain a broad interest. She seems a delicate victim of the public eye.
In regards to your technique, you have some lovely form and texture going on within the decaying flesh which is both ghastly and engrossing. The softness in the rest of her face, her neck, her clothing is a lovely contrast as well. More personally, I adore the shape taking place in her nose.
Truly, she is still beautiful.

This is such a strong piece because I think it evokes the endless exploitation of Marilyn's image - the zombiefication of a cultutral icon, if you will.

hey, i really really like this. it reminds me of how i feel about marilyn monroe. everyone glamorizes her, andher beauty and everything. but people neglect the fact that she was a very very sad women, who was frequently depressed and prob comited suicide. just because she was considered the most beautiful women ever, that didnt save her. beauty isnt everything, when people look at her they see sex and sexyness, i see a sad hurt women.

yeah, I always thought she was hot as hell....but then after getting to know her story I fund out she was fucked up + all the hollywood pressure and stuff....it is also a reflect on society and things like that.
