Josef is a very warm and personable person, he has a very gentle and calm way of speaking and conducting himself among others, it's rare for him to raise his voice in any manner, unless it's to warn someone they are about to get hit by a train (which hopefully never happens!). Although a laid-back soul, that certainly doesn't mean he isn't capable of getting excited and inspired, at times it's impossible to contain his own curiosity and desire to learn and explore more things, much like a hyperactive child, long story short, this guy is a gentle doofus. A notable trait that sticks out to most is his lack of swearing or curse words, no matter the situation, although he isn't' one to resort to sailor talk by nature, he is especially mindful when around women or young children. He can be a bit of a prude at times but is surprisingly tolerable of other people even if they are the exact opposite of him and his morals, although he won't partake in the exchange of crude humor, you might catch him trying to stifle a laugh at hearing some of them. (Because c'mon..some of those jokes are too damn funny not to laugh at!)

Despite the many challenges in his life and being disconnected from his own biological family, Josef is always the type to see the glass as half-full, along with making sure to enjoy the small things in life. He finds life too short to endlessly worry about things that are out of his control and tries to break down his goals into steps he can list and meet in small, obtainable steps instead of one huge overwhelming situation to take on at once. He tries his best to not expend too much emotion into fretting and getting upset over the situation, whenever he feels he is driven to that point, he will excuse himself and step out of the room or situation for a few minutes to collect himself before returning to face the issue with a calmer approach. In his mind he is so dead set on trying to be the most "perfect" role model for his younger staff members, that in achieving that goal it can drive himself into the ground, he tries to keep those momentary "breaks of sanity" out of sight from others, as he doesn't dare want to confuse or alarm them.

■ Trivia:

➣ Is slightly ambidextrous. He is quite capable with both hands, but it more right-hand dominant, he grew up being left-hand dominant which was discouraged due to an overly religious boarding school so he adapted and became right handed.
➣ Completely, and utterly helpless in romantic scenarios, the biggest shyest bean to ever walk the earth...
➣ Tends to ramble and become overly loquacious when nervous.
➣ Highly paranoid of oral NSAIDs (Advil, Tylenol), and has completely sworn them off. even if he is in a lot of pain.

➣ Chester Ramirez | Co-Owner, Ranch Division Manager| Closest Friend & Confident:
Josef and Chester, have a history together as they were both influencing forces into getting w.YKR started back in its pioneer days. Although they don't see each other that much due to being stationed into separate divisions on the vast plot of land, the two have still remained close allies. Whenever they bump into each other, it's like they never missed a thing and it's easy for them to catch up on just about anything. It's interesting to see the both of them together as Chester is extremely introverted while Josef is quite the opposite doing 80% of the talking half the time, although not very tolerant of other's rambling sessions, he can make an exception for Josef's tirades, and even managing to crack a chuckle or smile out of the stony-faced man. Back in the day, the two made quite a duo in the show ring, especially team penning and roping events. Chester opted for a milder lifestyle outside of the show ring and went on to manage the cattle operation side of the ranch, although he periodically still checks in with Josef. It's not known how the two quite bumped into each other as it was never verbally spoken, but it was thanks to Chester's influence and ties that Josef was able to join the w.YKR in the first place, at a very critical and low point in Jo's life.

➣ Raleigh Saunders | Cousin | Family / "Younger Sister":
Although technically her cousin, Josef, and Raleigh are pretty close and view each other more like siblings than family relatives. Josef views Rae as his younger sister, and he can be a little bit protective of her especially considering how bad her anxiety can be, although at the same time he encourages her to do more things on her own and to believe in herself. He will conveniently not be around, but not too far off whenever she is asking about and more so, doubting herself when working with horses, leaving her to figure out and start trusting her own judgment rather than the opinions of others for everything. Rae is quite a talented horsewoman, even putting some of the other older "know-it-all" cowboys to shame out there, he is hoping she will discover that about herself someday and have more faith in herself. He is a bit more laid back and less watchful over Rae than most typical brother-sister relationships, as he trusts her own judgment and choices 100%, and wants her to live her own life, even if that means making a few mistakes down the life, but he will always be there for her. Still, he can't help but raise an eyebrow at any men that happen to stare a little too long at her whenever he is around, especially Theo.

➣ Jamison Daines | w.Y.K.R. Colleague | Aquantinance / Strained Relationship of "Tolerating each other":
Josef and James have quite a tense relationship, to say the least, James is the only one out of the staff members that openly questions and quite frankly, challenges Josef authority and decisions. Since the first day, he agreed to ride for the w.YKR team, it was obvious that he wasn't in this to make friends, especially with HIM. To be frank, James does not seem to respect Josef at all, finding his overly laid-back demeanor to be a big weakness, making him a general push-over by nature that he feels he can easily bulldoze his way over. While it's rare for Josef to outwardly dislike someone, well, there might be some exceptions towards that rule if things continue to progress the way they are. Still, he grins and bears the quips and insults thrown his way, and doesn't dare raise his voice, keeping his own tone civil and calm which might unintentionally come off as patronizing, whether he is doing this unconsciously or not, it's difficult to tell, often sparking more fights rather than diffusing them. They continue to abide by somewhat professional terms, although whenever possible they try to cross separate paths.

➣ Neliah Duval | w.Y.K.R. Colleague | Friend / The Mischevious Rebel Child #1:
Nellie is without a doubt the ringleader of the "Mischevious Trio", an underground organization/cult formed soon after K.D. joined the ranch. Nel is a very bubbly, energetic force to be reckoned with, she is the type of child to be able to freely make friends with everyone and everything, perhaps even more so than Josef himself. He admires her peppy, upbeat personality, but is often baffled by her explosiveness and is quite quick to try and rein her in if she tries to fly off the handle. Although feminine and petite in appearance, her mannerisms often say otherwise, her tomboyishness and actions even a bit too much for a conservative gentleman like Josef. None the less, he finds her to be a wonderful person with a lot to offer, although she occasionally needs some redirection. Even with her "quirks", she is quite an accomplished Show Jumper, and the two are often seen training and going to clinics together.

➣ Caisus Deamen | w.Y.K.R. Colleague | Friend / "His Son" / The Mischevious Rebel Child #2:
Josef finds K.D. to be an interesting and rather eccentric kind of individual. Without a doubt, the kiddo is quite a talented western rider and knows his way around a lasso and working cattle, a valuable asset to the developing Western Team. It doesn't matter how often Jo is around him, he can never quite get used to K.D.'s warped sense of humor and comments and often worries about him a little more than the others for his mental well-being. Of course being the "tough, country kid" the latter is, all attempts of Josef trying to get the other to open up about anything are always shut down immediately, in fact, K.D. was the one who started the whole trend of sarcastically calling Jo "Dad" because of all of this. Of course, that inside "meme" spread like wildfire in California and now everyone and their mom is now calling him "Dad" and the infamous, "Daddy". The funny thing is, some people are actually quite convinced that K.D. is Josef's son, especially poor old Myrtle in town who always has to praise Josef for being such a wonderful single father, while K.D. and company are in tears from laughter in the background. Despite the whole "dad" trend, Josef still cares a good deal about the little blonde stinker and hopes he is taking care of himself.
I mean he has too now since he is "his son" after all.

➣ Theodore Daines | w.Y.K.R. Colleague | Friend / The Mischevious Rebel Child #3:
If Tori isn't around to correct Theo on his "colorful vocabulary" than Josef will certainly make his displeasure known and highly "encourage" him to choose a different assortment of words. Despite Theo's rough mannerisms and high-strung personality, Josef actually respects the guy and is quite complimentary of the other's persistence and solid work ethic. Although he often has to be on his tail about word choices and border-line nag him about certain details, he knows he will complete the job and can be trusted with almost anything. In fact, whenever Josef isn't around or able to, Theo is the designated driver/hauler for competitions, and just about everything. Jo is quite fixated on trying to encourage Theo to also officially join the Western Team, as he is quite a capable rider. Somehow the latter's excuse of "I just don't do cowboy hats and button-up shirts" don't cut it with him as a viable explanation.

➣ Tori Rallis | w.Y.K.R. Colleague | Friend / The sane one / "Barn Mom" / Second-in-Command :

Tori is a very welcomed and calming presence out of the bunch, as much as Josef dotes on everyone else, having her around is like a breath of fresh air, as she is one of the "sane" and mature individuals out of the bunch. She often helps up with organizing lessons and assigning duties and chores around the ranch along with keeping track of horse medical and show records. Sometimes the two can be seen conversating or making small exchanges in Spanish just for the heck of it, although Josef's variant of Spanish differs a bit from her's so there are minor communication barriers occasionally. She often takes the wheel whenever Josef can't be around in relaying news or duties, as he views her as an equal. Ironically she is known as the "Barn mom", a title soon given to her via her best friend Neliah, and the title is very well suited for her as she is known to be a bit of a helicopter parent to everyone around her, and will not hesitate to nag or protect those close to her like a fierce momma bear, she has even been known to snap at Josef quite a few times to take better care of himself and to not overdo it.

Partnered up for the TWD 2016 edition, the two have come to be good friends over the trails! They haven't had a chance to officially meet up, but he had the opportunity to bump into her at the Zlesdin Grading Show (2018). Jo is quite overjoyed to see Atoli's filly in such capable, gentle hands, and finds the two to make a wonderful pair. *(despite Ellie's unusual "braying" which even caught him off guard.) He is hoping to bump into her again in the future!

The two have seen each other quite a bit at previous Zlesdin Grading Shows, and on the TWD trails. Needless to say, the two are on good terms, and Jo considers Gabe a welcomed, friendly face. ■ Trivia:
➣  Voice Claim: " Jim Halpert" (The Office) / John Krasinski " *(tentative to change)
➣ Is slightly ambidextrous. He is quite capable with both hands, but it more right-hand dominant, he grew up being left-hand dominant which was discouraged due to an overly religious boarding school so he adapted and became right handed.
➣ Completely, and utterly helpless in romantic scenarios, the biggest shyest bean to ever walk the earth...
➣ Tends to ramble and become overly loquacious when nervous.
➣ Highly paranoid of oral NSAIDs (Advil, Tylenol), and has completely sworn them off. even if he is in a lot of pain.
➣ Is a pretty nice, calm person most of the time, but he has plenty of back-handed sass down in there somewhere.
➣ Master of most vehicles, bumper pull, gooseneck, manual, automatic, he can drive it and park it all.
➣ Quite a good shot, he has hunted waterfowl and partook in competitive skeet shooting, and placed pretty well.
➣ Always carries a pocket knife on his person, but not be a thug. He has seen too many horses panic and nearly hang themselves when on the collegiate polo team, he wants to be able to cut the rope in a moment's notice.
➣ Despite getting up at the crack of dawn, Jo is actually not a morning person, he literally has to set 3-6 alarms to make sure he wakes up on time.
➣ Retained quite a bit of knowledge about accounting, and managing finances from his time in college. You are more than welcome to ask him questions about building good credit, cash-flows, investments and interest, compound payments..anything. (he will talk your ear off he hasn't already at this point in time.)

➣ Current: Pretty Healthy, despite reoccurring old "sports injuries".

➣ Prognosis: Later on, surgery was conducted to improve the condition, helped reduce pain but not a "cure".

➣ Chester Ramirez | Co-Owner, Ranch Division Manager| Closest Friend & Confident:
Josef and Chester, have a history together as they were both influencing forces into getting w.YKR started back in its pioneer days. Although they don't see each other that much due to being stationed into separate divisions on the vast plot of land, the two have still remained close allies. Whenever they bump into each other, it's like they never missed a thing and it's easy for them to catch up on just about anything. It's interesting to see the both of them together as Chester is extremely introverted while Josef is quite the opposite doing 80% of the talking half the time, although not very tolerant of other's rambling sessions, he can make an exception for Josef's tirades, and even managing to crack a chuckle or smile out of the stony-faced man. Back in the day, the two made quite a duo in the show ring, especially team penning and roping events. Chester opted for a milder lifestyle outside of the show ring and went on to manage the cattle operation side of the ranch, although he periodically still checks in with Josef. It's not known how the two quite bumped into each other as it was never verbally spoken, but it was thanks to Chester's influence and ties that Josef was able to join the w.YKR in the first place, at a very critical and low point in Jo's life.

➣ Raleigh Saunders | Cousin | Family / "Younger Sister":
Although technically her cousin, Josef, and Raleigh are pretty close and view each other more like siblings than family relatives. Josef views Rae as his younger sister, and he can be a little bit protective of her especially considering how bad her anxiety can be, although at the same time he encourages her to do more things on her own and to believe in herself. He will conveniently not be around, but not too far off whenever she is asking about and more so, doubting herself when working with horses, leaving her to figure out and start trusting her own judgment rather than the opinions of others for everything. Rae is quite a talented horsewoman, even putting some of the other older "know-it-all" cowboys to shame out there, he is hoping she will discover that about herself someday and have more faith in herself. He is a bit more laid back and less watchful over Rae than most typical brother-sister relationships, as he trusts her own judgment and choices 100%, and wants her to live her own life, even if that means making a few mistakes down the life, but he will always be there for her. Still, he can't help but raise an eyebrow at any men that happen to stare a little too long at her whenever he is around, especially Theo.

➣ Jamison Daines | w.Y.K.R. Colleague | Aquantinance / Strained Relationship of "Tolerating each other":
Josef and James have quite a tense relationship, to say the least, James is the only one out of the staff members that openly questions and quite frankly, challenges Josef authority and decisions. Since the first day, he agreed to ride for the w.YKR team, it was obvious that he wasn't in this to make friends, especially with HIM. To be frank, James does not seem to respect Josef at all, finding his overly laid-back demeanor to be a big weakness, making him a general push-over by nature that he feels he can easily bulldoze his way over. While it's rare for Josef to outwardly dislike someone, well, there might be some exceptions towards that rule if things continue to progress the way they are. Still, he grins and bears the quips and insults thrown his way, and doesn't dare raise his voice, keeping his own tone civil and calm which might unintentionally come off as patronizing, whether he is doing this unconsciously or not, it's difficult to tell, often sparking more fights rather than diffusing them. They continue to abide by somewhat professional terms, although whenever possible they try to cross separate paths.

➣ Neliah Duval | w.Y.K.R. Colleague | Friend / The Mischevious Rebel Child #1:
Nellie is without a doubt the ringleader of the "Mischevious Trio", an underground organization/cult formed soon after K.D. joined the ranch. Nel is a very bubbly, energetic force to be reckoned with, she is the type of child to be able to freely make friends with everyone and everything, perhaps even more so than Josef himself. He admires her peppy, upbeat personality, but is often baffled by her explosiveness and is quite quick to try and rein her in if she tries to fly off the handle. Although feminine and petite in appearance, her mannerisms often say otherwise, her tomboyishness and actions even a bit too much for a conservative gentleman like Josef. None the less, he finds her to be a wonderful person with a lot to offer, although she occasionally needs some redirection. Even with her "quirks", she is quite an accomplished Show Jumper, and the two are often seen training and going to clinics together.

➣ Caisus Deamen | w.Y.K.R. Colleague | Friend / "His Son" / The Mischevious Rebel Child #2:
Josef finds K.D. to be an interesting and rather eccentric kind of individual. Without a doubt, the kiddo is quite a talented western rider and knows his way around a lasso and working cattle, a valuable asset to the developing Western Team. It doesn't matter how often Jo is around him, he can never quite get used to K.D.'s warped sense of humor and comments and often worries about him a little more than the others for his mental well-being. Of course being the "tough, country kid" the latter is, all attempts of Josef trying to get the other to open up about anything are always shut down immediately, in fact, K.D. was the one who started the whole trend of sarcastically calling Jo "Dad" because of all of this. Of course, that inside "meme" spread like wildfire in California and now everyone and their mom is now calling him "Dad" and the infamous, "Daddy". The funny thing is, some people are actually quite convinced that K.D. is Josef's son, especially poor old Myrtle in town who always has to praise Josef for being such a wonderful single father, while K.D. and company are in tears from laughter in the background. Despite the whole "dad" trend, Josef still cares a good deal about the little blonde stinker and hopes he is taking care of himself.
I mean he has too now since he is "his son" after all.

➣ Theodore Daines | w.Y.K.R. Colleague | Friend / The Mischevious Rebel Child #3:
If Tori isn't around to correct Theo on his "colorful vocabulary" than Josef will certainly make his displeasure known and highly "encourage" him to choose a different assortment of words. Despite Theo's rough mannerisms and high-strung personality, Josef actually respects the guy and is quite complimentary of the other's persistence and solid work ethic. Although he often has to be on his tail about word choices and border-line nag him about certain details, he knows he will complete the job and can be trusted with almost anything. In fact, whenever Josef isn't around or able to, Theo is the designated driver/hauler for competitions, and just about everything. Jo is quite fixated on trying to encourage Theo to also officially join the Western Team, as he is quite a capable rider. Somehow the latter's excuse of "I just don't do cowboy hats and button-up shirts" don't cut it with him as a viable explanation.

➣ Tori Rallis | w.Y.K.R. Colleague | Friend / The sane one / "Barn Mom" / Second-in-Command :

Tori is a very welcomed and calming presence out of the bunch, as much as Josef dotes on everyone else, having her around is like a breath of fresh air, as she is one of the "sane" and mature individuals out of the bunch. She often helps up with organizing lessons and assigning duties and chores around the ranch along with keeping track of horse medical and show records. Sometimes the two can be seen conversating or making small exchanges in Spanish just for the heck of it, although Josef's variant of Spanish differs a bit from her's so there are minor communication barriers occasionally. She often takes the wheel whenever Josef can't be around in relaying news or duties, as he views her as an equal. Ironically she is known as the "Barn mom", a title soon given to her via her best friend Neliah, and the title is very well suited for her as she is known to be a bit of a helicopter parent to everyone around her, and will not hesitate to nag or protect those close to her like a fierce momma bear, she has even been known to snap at Josef quite a few times to take better care of himself and to not overdo it.

Partnered up for the TWD 2016 edition, the two have come to be good friends over the trails! Both of them share very similar interests, and of course, have an affinity for jokes, pranks, and being mischevious goofs in general! It's become a tradition to recite songs from Pitch Perfect whenever they meet. *(and keep their moody mares far apart from each other...)

➣  Raeni Clarke | Relationship: Acquaintance | owned by: Dozymare
They haven't had a chance to officially meet up, but he had the opportunity to bump into her at the Zlesdin Grading Show (2018). Jo is quite overjoyed to see Atoli's filly in such capable, gentle hands, and finds the two to make a wonderful pair. *(despite Ellie's unusual "braying" which even caught him off guard.) He is hoping to bump into her again in the future!

➣ Gabriel Grace | Relationship: Acquaintance, Friend | owned by: Ysval
The two have seen each other quite a bit at previous Zlesdin Grading Shows, and on the TWD trails. Needless to say, the two are on good terms, and Jo considers Gabe a welcomed, friendly face. They helped each other a few times on TWD '16 trail because falling off horses is never fun! It is mandatory to take selfies with her whenever she is around, this is an unspoken but official rule.
