Description Since Halloween is tomorrow, I thought I'd do this meme. However, keep in mind that some are crossed out because I couldn't think of a character that best fits the spot. Without further ado, let the list begin.

Because of their beliefs: Claude Frollo (The Hunchback of Notre Dame)
This is a Disney villain I really despise. While nobody’s disputing that he’s a creep, he’s a lot creepier than people seem to realize. Pretty much immediately, we learn that Frollo doesn’t really care that he’s guilty of murdering an innocent woman. He’s also very ready to kill the woman’s baby (the then-infantile Quasimodo) and has some horrible things to say about the baby’s deformities. While murder isn’t off the cards for most Disney villains, but infanticide is pretty next level stuff. Small wonder the 1996 film is considered one of, if not the darkest entry in the canon of Disney’s animated movies.

Because of their goals: Havik (Mortal Kombat)
This character first appeared in Mortal Kombat: Deception. For anyone who has read the MKX prequel comics, you will know why this character is freaky and never one to fuck around with.

Because of their eyes: Blackheart (Marvel Comics)
Red eyes take warning for sure!

Because of their mouth: Xenomorph (Alien)
The Xenomorph has a very creepy appearance, and I would hate to see one if I was alone somewhere.

Because of their voice: Pious Augustus (Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem)
For anyone who has played Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem (for Nintendo GameCube), you probably remember Pious Augustus, the corrupted Roman Centurion. This guy has a scary voice and laugh.

Because of his hands: Freddy Krueger (A Nightmare on Elm Street)
I sure as heck don't want this guy haunting my nightmares.

Because they're ugly: Predator
He is one, ugly motherfucker. That's all there is to say.

Because of their personality: Ratigan (The Great Mouse Detective)
Ratigan is the #2 scariest Disney villain in my book. The climax with Ratigan becoming his true self always scared me as a child. The transformation is so complete that he doesn’t seem like the same character anymore. And that scene where Basil gets literally mauled by Ratigan, it’s hard to believe sometimes that this movie was made for children. Because if you really think about it, if the scene had been done realistically, there would be blood everywhere, not to mention broken bones from that fall onto the clock hands.

Because they're mysterious: Q (Street Fighter)
The Street Fighter series is without a doubt one of the most influential series in the fighting genre, but it’s not exactly seen as one of the most violent or mature. At the same time, sometimes less can be more, which is exactly why the games’ enigmatic Q is so interesting. Q is like an evil Carmen Sandiego with a mix of Doctor Doom and Watchmen’s Rorschach thrown in for good measure. Nobody knows the full story with him and it’s unclear if he’s even a human or some kind of robot. Q is Street Fighter’s most mysterious character and it only deepens the fear that surrounds him.

Because of their outfit: Ghostface (Scream)
How would you feel if you got a phone call from a freak dressed up like a ghost? I'd sure as hell be terrified.

Because they're violent: Jason Voorhees (Friday the 13th)
If you thought a guy in a hockey mask wasn't scary, you'd soon regret thinking such for obvious reasons.

Because they're annoying: Kid Buu (Dragon Ball Z)
The only thing that made Kid Buu scary was when he blew up the Earth. Other than that, this guy was lame.

Because of the noise they make: Monster Ock (Spider-Man [PlayStation])
Did anyone else freak out when they saw this thing pop out from the floor near the end of the game? You damn right I did.

Because of how they make their mark: Giga Bowser (Super Smash Bros.)
When this guy first appeared, it was time for a tough and brutal fight.

Because of the faces they make: Spike Rosered (Rockman X5 Manhua)
Were the writers of this Chinese-only manhua high on mushrooms when they decided to give Spike Rosered a mouth with sharp teeth? We may never know.

Because of their song: Oogie Boogie (The Nightmare Before Christmas)
Singing a song about wanting to sentence a beloved holiday icon to a painful death? That's just messed up, man.

Because of their role in the story: The Zerg (StarCraft)
Just the Zerg. They're like the plague. No matter how many die, they always come out again when either the Terran or Protoss least expect it.

Because of how they treat the other characters: Dark Samus (Metroid)
You wanna know what makes this character so dark and scary (no pun intended)? She corrupts individuals to make them into her mindless slaves. The galaxy surely would've been fucked had it not been for Samus Aran.

Because they scared me as a child: Shere Khan (The Jungle Book)
Yep. Shere Khan is the #1 scariest Disney villain to me. As someone who suffers from tigriphobia, it's easy to see why. Every scene he's in (with the exception of his intervention with Kaa the Snake) scares me, especially the climax. And he would only get worse in other adaptations.

Because they made you have nightmares: Man-Spider (Spider-Man: The Animated Series)
Seriously. Who did not see this coming, which was Spider-Man transforming into a mutant spider? Man-Spider was truly traumatizing.

Because they're in a family/kid-friendly media but are too creepy for it: Rasputin (Anastasia)
What makes Rasputin such a scary character is that he's literally falling apart in certain scenes. And this is from a G rated movie for crying out loud.

Because of their smile: M. Bison (Street Fighter)
While M. Bison may be one of my favorite video game villains, even I'll admit his smile creeps me out, especially whenever it's up close.

Because of their background: The Red Skull (Marvel Comics)
Red Skull may be a memorable villain, but even I can't deny that he's creepy.

Because nobody else finds them creepy: Clawhead (King of the Monsters 2: The Next Thing)
When I first played King of the Monsters 2 for Super Nintendo, I was creeped out by Clawhead. I mean, look at him. Something about his design looks so wrong. He looks like a killer vagina.

Because of the jump scare they make: Spiders (Mortal Kombat)
Of all the jump scares in Mortal Kombat X's Krypt, the spiders were the worst since they pop up without warning. This is especially bad for anyone who has arachnophobia.

Because of their weapons: Nemesis (Resident Evil)
What makes an ugly monster like Nemesis even more scary? Give him some deadly weapons and you can call it a day.

Because they're too smug: Cell (Dragon Ball Z)
In my honest opinion, I thought Cell’s Imperfect form was more terrifying than his later forms. I mean, him absorbing innocent people and showing it was just freaky.

Because they're mad/crazy: Carnage (Marvel Comics)
What needs to be said about Carnage? Well, Cletus Kasady (his real name) didn't have the chance to be a well-adjusted adult, because his entire family was already crazy. While Cletus was just an 8-year-old boy, his father got sent to jail for killing his mother - which he did because she had tried to kill Cletus - which she did because Cletus had tortured and killed her dog, Fifi, with a power-drill; additionally, his mother tried to kill Cletus for killing her mother (Cletus' maternal grandmother) by knocking her down the stairs for her bitchy behavior (in spite of that, his mother still loved her).

As an orphan, Kasady was sent to the St. Estes Home for Boys, where his antisocial behavior made him the target of abuse from both the other orphans and the staff. Kasady gained revenge by murdering the disciplinarian administrator, pushing a girl (who laughed at him for asking to date her) in front of a moving bus, and burning down the orphanage (killing everyone in it). It was during his brutal years at St. Estes that Kasady acquired his philosophy that life was essentially meaningless and futile, that "laws are only words", and came to see the spreading of chaos through random, unpatterned bloodshed as "the ultimate freedom" and thinking that he was actually "freeing" people by killing them. Years later as an adult, he was finally arrested and convicted for eleven murders. Or rather, the eleven murders they KNEW OF (Cletus claims/brags that he killed MANY MORE than that). Demented, isn't it?

Because they're still creepy even if they're on the good side: Sleepwalker (Marvel Comics)
I'll admit I had not heard of this character until I saw him in an issue of Ms. Marvel. Even though he's a good guy, he does look a little creepy, but I think he's cool nonetheless.

BECAUSE THEY JUST DO!: Raremon (Digimon)
Yep. Raremon is the very definition of a childhood nightmare. Not only does he have a scary and fucked up appearance, but he actually nearly succeeds in killing Kabuterimon in the darkest way possible, seen here .

And thus, my drowning phobia began.
