ooh! I like the details on the stones and everything. is that some-sort of moon he's on? or just a nice detail piece so that the painting isn't just a mess of faces...THats probably it.

Awesome...

I'm new to all this digital painting stuff and I'm having real difficulty focusing on the overall effects of light and shadow whilst I'm working close-up on details like that... I'm amazed at how you've maintained a great looking picture on the larger scale and, yet, have managed to create so many cool little details...

Very nice...

Yes that's really a bit tricky if you work digital, you always have to zoom in and out and can't see the whole piece when working on the detail. But with a little practice it works pretty well . thanks for the comment.

No problem... I really enjoy your work...

My first piece of digital painting is slowly coming along, but I never would have imagined that it was possible to make so many silly mistakes in one picture. Think I've repainted the damn thing fifty times so far! ...

Still, all the practice has to be doing me some good...

Let me know when you finished your first digital piece, would love to see it . Well i better don't rell you how many mistakes i do in my pieces, but hey peole say we learn from our mistakes, so i learn each and every day thausends of new things (going by counting my mistakes i do every day)

I know what you mean... Each and every disaster is a good reason to work on what went wrong and figure out why it went wrong... Thus, I get a little bit better with every one!

I'll post the piece when I'm done with it (it's getting there, slowly but surely!) and I'll drop you a note when I do. I'd love to hear your thoughts on it. Be nice to have an expert's opinion on the piece before I start on the next one.

Thanks for taking the time to reply to a Newbie like me...

Wow. You work that nig normally? o_O

jarling-art In reply to thespaceinvader [2006-01-23 01:55:42 +0000 UTC]

normaly i work not that big for card-art pieces but as I knew this will be going to be a tutorial i painted in a bigger size. The size depends always for what the piece will be used. However for coverart i usually work between 6000 or 8000 pixels hight.
Thanks for all your support!

Cool. I don't think my memory supports me working that large...

Ah well, maybe it's time to upgrade...
