Even ruling the vampire council instead of his master. Renfield is not a vampire, he has his own special powers bestowed on him by Dracula. Renfield can turn into a fly monster, homage to Cronenberg's bodyhorror movie The Fly. Also homage to William Gibson's Alien 3 where fully grown Xenomorph can burst out of a human, so the fly monster burst out of the skin of Renfield, leaving husk of Renfield behind. Renfield in fly form or a human form is extremely hard to kill.
