this art piece is in prep for a document being written by my brother covering the development of the tactical mech in the 2060 setting.

thought i would post this here (as the pic will be cropped to fit the document), but also to explain the lore for this image.

-2060 lore

Drone warfare had dominated conflict up until the proliferation of ECM (electronic counter measures). some nations would learn the hard way of relying too much on drone mechs.

one such instance was the renewed Hong Kong protests. freedom fighters, seemingly equipped with American military equipment, clashed with the Chinese PLA.

the PLA had relied too much on drones for policing conquered territories, and such was it in Hong Kong. it was considered easier to put down the local populace when the drone pilots were back in mainland china and closely observed by loyal CCP members. in fact all the weapons of the local PLA were equipped on the "cricket" DTM (drone tactical mech). these particular cricket drones were equipped with dual arm mounted 7.62 LMGs. all other combat vehicles were focused on being mobile charging stations for the Cricket.

when the protesters activated their potable ECMs they swiftly disabled the drone forces, the machines dropping to the asphalt of the streets. they revealed their cache of weapons and technicals, quickly overwhelming the riot police, who were only equipped with shields and batons. the crickets would soon be repurposed by the local citizens as wire controlled urban ambushers, prepared against any invading force.

the fate of Hong Kong would be in question for the foreseeable future, rumors arose of a more direct American presence occupying the newly independent Port city while the Chinese military focused on reorganizing a non drone military invasion.
